Description
Itsuki Kusunoki, alternatively written as 楠伊月, resides in Kumamoto Prefecture. She forged a friendship with Natsuna Keyaki on an online gaming platform, bonding over shared digital art activities. Their communication ceased abruptly four years before the main events when the gaming service shut down unexpectedly—coinciding with the catastrophic 2016 Kumamoto earthquakes that devastated Itsuki's life.
Her family home suffered severe damage, forcing relocation. The disasters inflicted profound trauma, including a hand injury halting her drawing ability. This physical and emotional strain triggered social withdrawal and adaptation struggles. She isolated herself, haunted by fears that Natsuna resented her due to their severed connection.
Recuperating at her grandmother Haru Kusunoki’s residence in Sakitsu, a fishing village in Amakusa, Itsuki hesitantly resumed sketching landscapes on the local wharf. When Natsuna located her there, Itsuki initially denied her identity, posing as a schoolmate. She claimed Itsuki was studying art in France until summer’s end.
This deception arose from insecurity and dread that Natsuna had abandoned their friendship after the earthquakes disrupted contact. Only after Natsuna persisted—reaffirming their bond and longing to reunite—did Itsuki confess. She revealed her hand injury, prolonged recovery, and mistaken belief in Natsuna’s animosity.
The emotional climax saw Itsuki tearfully asking Natsuna to draw with her again, reviving their old promise to sketch Kumamoto’s scenery. Visually, she possesses grey hair and occasionally wears glasses.
