TV-Series
Description
The Mountain Godess of Sengoku Youko, also known by her true name Ooyama Mitsuchihime, is one of the oldest and most powerful land gods in existence. She is a spirit of water, trees, and earth, notable for her extraordinary beauty, and she possesses spiritual power that surpasses even that of the mighty demon Jinun. She appears as an adult woman with long green hair, green eyes, and horn-like ears, and she uses the first-person pronoun "boku," which contributes to her unique and somewhat playful demeanor.

Her personality is distinctly whimsical and unpredictable. She is a goddess who operates on her own terms, often appearing detached or capricious, yet she is deeply knowledgeable about the world and its hidden truths. She is not motivated by conventional goals of good or evil but by a sense of curiosity and, at times, a subtle sense of justice. Her motivations are tied to maintaining a balance in the natural and spiritual world, and she takes action when the status quo is threatened by either humans or supernatural beings.

In the story, the Mountain Godess first appears when she takes in the fleeing protagonists Jinka, Tama, Shinsuke Hyoudou, and Shakugan, who are being pursued by the Dangaishu. She offers them shelter and becomes their mentor, training them to become strong enough to confront their enemies. Her role is that of a powerful ally and a teacher who pushes the characters to their limits. She is responsible for training Jinka and his friends to fight against the dragon-man Poryun and to stop the Dangaishu. She also plays a crucial role in the second part of the story, where she seals and later removes Senya from his seal. Additionally, she becomes the direct mentor of Shinsuke Hyoudou, helping him grow from a cowardly swordsman into a capable fighter.

Her key relationships include her connection to the protagonist group, especially Shinsuke Hyoudou and Tama. She also has a close relationship with her shrine maiden and maid named Miko. She raised a girl named Rinzu, whom she found as a baby, and Rinzu later becomes a skilled fighter. The Mountain Godess is also the master of the master of Jinka Yamato, meaning she holds a position of authority over the chain of mentorship that influences the main characters.

Her development is not one of personal growth but rather a gradual revelation of her power and wisdom. She is already a complete and ancient being at the start, and the story explores the depth of her abilities rather than changes in her character.

Her notable abilities are immense and godlike. She is capable of moving mountains and distorting space-time at her leisure. She uses this power to manipulate the flow of time, allowing Tama to spend ten years meditating in her own mind while only a day passes in the real world. Her spiritual power is superior to that of most other characters in the series, making her one of the most formidable entities in the world of Sengoku Youko.
