Description
Polek is an elderly male character and the chief of the Kororu, a tribe of small folk in the world of Teogonia. He has white hair and is blind, having lost his eyesight long ago, and his eyes are not visible. His blindness came from a past incident in which his eyes were destroyed. Despite this, he is able to perceive the world through a divine blessing that lets him see the light of spiritual energy, which allows him to sense his surroundings and move about without difficulty. He is also someone with considerable combat experience gained over a long life.

In terms of background, Polek originally lived in a village that was attacked and destroyed by the pig-people, a demi-human tribe also referred to as Ogres. After losing their home, he and his people became wanderers, displaced and searching for a place to settle. Eventually, the Kororu tribe came to live near the valley, and Kai allows them to make their home at the edge of that valley.

Polek is a knowledgeable and approachable figure who takes on the role of a guide and teacher. He knows a great deal about the land, the local gods, and the various demi-human tribes, and he is happy to share this information with others. He frequently teaches Kai about these subjects, helping the young warrior understand the world beyond his home village and the larger conflicts shaping it. Because his name is difficult for Kai to pronounce, Kai calls him Gore instead.

His main motivation is the safety and survival of his people. As the chief of a tribe that lost its original home to hostile demi-humans, he is driven by the need to find security and a place where the Kororu can live without fear. His role in the story is primarily as a supporting figure and a mentor of sorts to Kai, offering knowledge and counsel about the gods, the land, and the demi-human tribes that are central to the ongoing struggles of the world. His development involves transitioning from leading a homeless and wandering group to establishing a new foothold near the valley, where his tribe can settle under better circumstances. His most notable abilities are his spiritual perception, which compensates for his blindness, and his extensive practical experience in combat and survival.
