Description
Krafnir the Hatch of Truth is a Visitor, an extraordinarily powerful being displaced from another world into the realm of Ishura. He is a practitioner of word arts, a magic-like system based on language, and is renowned for supposedly discovering an entirely new “fifth system” of these arts, which has been described as the art of the mind. His true appearance remains unknown; the figure typically seen is a mysterious, brown-robed form concealing a remotely controlled skeletal body. He communicates and acts through demonic constructs he creates, never revealing his actual self.

His primary motivation is vengeance. Krafnir seeks to avenge his teacher, who was slain by the self-proclaimed Demon King Izick the Chromatic. This grudge drives him to participate in the broader conflicts of the world, including the search for the Demon King’s child, a mission he undertakes alongside the companion Rique the Misfortune in the desolate Land of the End. In the political machinations surrounding the Sixways Exhibition, the tournament to determine the land’s true hero, Krafnir was originally nominated by Yuca the Halation Gaol to compete. He ultimately relinquished his seat, however, handing it over to the mage known as Tu the Magic.

Krafnir operates from the shadows, battling by proxy through his crafted beings. Among his most notable creations is Migamud, a reanimated wurm with wires threaded through its body and crystalline eyes, used to swallow and imprison members of the Demon King’s army during an extraction mission. His abilities make him a formidable and enigmatic presence, and early on he was identified by Yuno the Distant Talon as one of the few beings potentially powerful enough to slay a swordsman like Soujirou the Willow-Sword. Though little of his personality is openly displayed, his actions reveal a calculating mind driven by loss, a willingness to manipulate events from a distance, and an enduring quest to punish those who embody the demonic power that destroyed his mentor.
