Kūro, also known as the Cautious, is a former assassin who once belonged to the covert guild known as the Black Obsidian Eye. Later, he establishes a cooperative relationship with the nation of Aureatia, offering his services as a spy and infiltrator. His background as a killer in the shadows shapes his approach to the world: he is a young man of serious and no-nonsense demeanor, wearing a calm, cool-headed expression that can be easily mistaken for apathy. He is introverted and speaks only when necessary, preferring silence and observation over unnecessary words.
Kūro’s motivations center on survival and fulfilling his assignments with maximum caution. He does not seek glory or fame; instead, he focuses on completing tasks with precision and minimal risk. In the story, he operates as a support agent, gathering intelligence and executing sensitive missions for Aureatia. Kūro is accompanied by a small winged artificial human, a homunculus-like being that fits inside his coat. This creature is cheerful and innocent, acting as a scout and observer.
