TV-Series
Description
Memmeln is a prominent character from the television anime ZENSHU. She is an elf with a very long lifespan, having already lived for several hundred years, and she originates from the Wind Country. Her appearance is marked by her beautiful green hair, which is considered a testament to her lengthy existence. Her bearing is solid and elegant, outwardly reflecting the wisdom and accumulated pain of her many centuries of life.

In terms of personality, Memmeln is known for her calm, composed, and rational demeanor, rarely allowing her emotions to show openly. This distant and enigmatic behavior contributes to the aura of mystery that surrounds her. She seems to have no particular hobbies and has long since forgotten her first love, showing little interest in daily pleasures or romantic passions. Beneath this placid exterior, however, lies a deep-seated exhaustion. Having lived for centuries and faced the prospect of an effectively eternal life, she has watched countless friends and comrades die before her eyes, enduring endless cycles of war and loss.

This profound fatigue is the core of her motivation within the story. Initially, her response to this endless cycle of grief is a desire for oblivion. She becomes so tired of living and so worn down by perpetual separation and drama that she wishes for the end of the world. To achieve this, she secretly starts a cult under the guise of a town choir, plotting to hasten the appearance of the Ultimate Void, a catastrophic entity. Her ultimate goal within this plan was to eventually take on the Void's form herself, hoping to be destroyed by her friend, Luke Braveheart.

Within the narrative, Memmeln is one of the Nine Soldiers, a group of legendary heroes, and is also a member of the town's choir. Her role in the story's central conflict is significant, as her plot to become the Great Void and end the world is a major turning point. In the original film within the story, she succeeds in transforming and is slain by Luke, an event that is never fully explained. In the version of events that unfolds, the protagonist Natsuko Hirose intervenes. Her key relationships are with her fellow soldiers, particularly Luke Braveheart, and with Natsuko, who is determined to understand and change Memmeln's tragic fate. She also shares important moments with other choir members, including Meg, Sally, and QJ, a small flying robot.

Memmeln undergoes a significant, though sudden, character development. Instead of resorting to violence to stop her, Natsuko uses her power to create an entity called an Ultimate Exister, an idol-like figure who sings and dances with Memmeln. This encounter awakens in her a new passion, a concept described as oshi-katsu, or the act of being a devoted fan of a particular character or person. Finding this one small thing to hold onto gives her a renewed sense of purpose and a fresh outlook on life, making her decide to abandon her apocalyptic plan. Later in the series, she participates in the final battles against the Void, at one point sacrificing herself to try and save Luke, only to be resurrected by Natsuko's ultimate power. In the end, she is shown arriving in the real world along with Luke and their companions.

In terms of abilities, Memmeln is a formidable fighter who excels at support from the rear. She is capable of using advanced magic and wields a magical bow in combat, combining her magical skill with archery to conquer her foes. Her versatility on the battlefield makes her a major asset to the Nine Soldiers.
