Nephrites Romka is the princess of the elven kingdom of Romka, known as the Land of Wind. She is the chosen successor to the Ring of Wind, a powerful artifact once held by her parents, who used it to create a protective wind barrier around the elf city. Following her parents' passing, her older brother Jade became fiercely overprotective, conditioning her to fear the outside world and reinforcing her status as a shut-in who rarely leaves her room. As a result, Nephrites is extremely shy and timid, to the point that meeting new people causes her such anxiety that she becomes physically ill. Despite this, she is a sweet and gentle young woman with a deep curiosity about the world beyond her chambers, as well as a budding interest in romance. Her primary motivation throughout the story is to overcome her crippling social anxiety and live up to her duties as the bearer of the Ring of Wind. In the narrative, Nephrites serves as the second ring princess to join the Ring King, Satou, marrying him after he helps her take her first steps outside. Her role in the quest is to provide the power of wind magic, which enhances Satou's agility and enables wind-based attacks. She also contributes as a capable mage in her own right. Her key relationships include her brother Jade, who is both her caretaker and the source of her confinement; Satou, whose encouragement helps her grow; and the other ring princesses, with whom she forms a supportive bond. Over the course of the story, Nephrites undergoes significant development, gradually overcoming her agoraphobia and learning to engage with the world and its dangers.
