Kouji Ward is the father of a family trio that includes his sons Len and Masaki. The three worked together as a unit until they went missing while searching for supplies inside a mall. Kouji wears round glasses, has a very long white beard, and is typically seen in a blue coat, a white shirt, gloves, and brown pants. His personality is consistently loud, assertive, and marked by a smug, enthusiastic expression. He is shown to possess remarkably fast reflexes, enough to dodge an extremely agile cat while taunting it. Motivated by the safety of his sons, Kouji deliberately buys time for one of them to escape by slowing down two attacking cats, a choice that leads to his infection and subsequent transformation.
