Description
Len Ward is the oldest son in a family trio that also includes his father, Kouji, and his younger brother, Masaki. Before the outbreak, he worked alongside them. When the feline virus known as the Nyandemic spread, the three visited a mall that had become infested with cats. They were quickly overwhelmed and forced to take shelter in a storage room. Kouji sacrificed himself to buy time for his sons to escape and became infected. Len and Masaki were eventually discovered hiding in that storage room by the main trio—Kunagi, Kaoru, and Arata—who had been guided there by a green-furred Devon Rex cat. After being rescued, Len and Masaki joined the group to gather supplies and attempt to flee the cat-overrun area.

Len has yellow spiky hair and brown eyes. He typically wears a white shirt and dark blue jeans, and is sometimes seen with a yellow shirt patterned with paw shapes underneath, with an extra shirt tied around his waist. His signature weapon is a pair of yellow crocodile-shaped water guns, which he wields in combat.

In terms of personality, Len is analytical, level-headed, and less prone to emotional outbursts than many other survivors. His background lies in science or technical fields, and he focuses on researching the biological mechanisms of the Nyandemic, particularly how the feline transformation occurs at a cellular level. He is driven by the goal of understanding the virus and finding a cure or a way to mask human presence from the cats. His expertise makes him a crucial asset to the survivor group, as he provides technical data and research insights that inform their high-risk operations.

Len’s key relationship is with his brother Masaki, with whom he operates as a specialized unit. Masaki provides physical protection and field support, while Len handles research and analysis. Len also works closely with Kunagi and Kaoru, supplying them with information to assist in their missions. Over the course of the story, Len’s arc moves from theoretical research to practical, high-stakes field testing, as he applies his scientific knowledge in increasingly dangerous environments. His notable abilities include his scientific analytical skills and his proficiency with his dual water guns, which he uses to defend himself against the infected cats.
