Description
Jen May-Yen is a fifteen-year-old character from Shanghai who serves as a Wizard for the Okeanos fleet, responsible for piloting and supporting Zegapain units. She is the younger twin sister of Jen May-Yu, and the pair originally worked together at their family's establishment, the Meifang Restaurant, before the spread of the Olhm virus displaced them. May-Yen is known for her distinctive appearance, which includes her hair styled into double buns with pigtails and a pair of glasses, a look that fellow crew member Kyo Sogoru affectionately notes makes her the cuter of the twin sisters.
In terms of personality, May-Yen is a pragmatic and highly calculating individual. She possesses a cool-headed and rational disposition, which contrasts sharply with her sister's more temperamental and impulsive nature. May-Yen excels at quickly analyzing complex situations and prefers methodical, long-term strategies over short, spontaneous engagements. This analytical gift makes her an expert in prolonged or tricky battles, allowing her to execute intricate tactics effectively. However, despite her usually composed exterior, she has a notable temper. When her anger reaches its limit, she can become completely uncontrollable, revealing an unexpectedly explosive side to her character.
May-Yen primarily serves in a support role as a Wizard. For the first part of the story up to the twelfth episode, she acts as the designated Wizard for pilot Mao Lu-Shen, working alongside her sister to control the Zegapain Garuda as a team. Following the death of Arque Avenir, her role transitions. She then partners with Shizuno Misaki to serve as the Wizard for pilot Chris Avenir aboard the Zegapain Altair, with her sister taking over her previous position on the Garuda. After the final battle, May-Yen continues her duties as a Wizard for Chris Avenir, becoming a member of the Dvarlka base team and remaining an active and vital part of the ongoing fight. Her key relationships are built around her professional partnerships, first with Mao Lu-Shen and later with Chris Avenir, as well as the close yet personality-driven dynamic with her twin sister, Jen May-Yu.
