Description
Goldran serves as the vice-director of the Royal Institute of Healing in the anime The Brilliant Healer's New Life in the Shadows. Within the institute's internal politics, he is depicted as a figure who prioritizes the interests of nobles to advance his own position, actively building a faction to gain political leverage in anticipation of upcoming elections for the director's post.
His role in the story is primarily defined by this political maneuvering. He is assisted by an aide named Cresson, and their relationship is tested when the protagonist Zenos becomes involved with the institute. In one notable incident, Cresson falsely claimed credit for Zenos's act of exorcising a Zombie King, a feat that was reported to Goldran as a success by one of his secretaries. However, the shame from this deception eventually led Cresson to confess the truth, revealing internal cracks within Goldran's faction.
Goldran is personally attached to his beloved dog, Milk. When he heard that Milk had been in an accident, he rushed to check on her, only to find her completely unharmed. Believing that Cresson had treated the dog, this incident reinforced his decision to entrust Cresson with a more significant task: the treatment of Charlotte, the daughter of Lord Fennel, who suffers from a rare and difficult illness known as gigantoma.
His political calculations ultimately proved successful. By securing strong support from Lord Fennel, Goldran effectively guaranteed his appointment as the next director of the institute. To celebrate this achievement and solidify his influence, he hosted a celebratory party for his faction members and supporters.
