Maiko Shirahato, daughter of Makoto Ishihara, seeks vengeance for her father's implication in the Boston WSG kidnappings fifteen years earlier. Concealing her lineage, she uses the anagrammatic surname Shirahato. She partners with Osamu Inoue, united by their shared grudge against the FBI. Together, they replicate the past crimes by kidnapping key figures linked to the current World Sports Games and Japan's new Hyperlinear bullet train. Their victims include Shiro Suzuki, Eiko Mitsuzuka, John Boyd, and Alan Mackenzie. To facilitate one abduction, they sabotage MRI machines at a Nagoya International Airport hospital, vaporizing liquid helium to deplete oxygen and incapacitate victims. Aboard the Hyperlinear train, Conan Edogawa and Masumi Sera identify Shirahato. Her phone, damaged during the hospital sabotage, fails to ring during an FBI mass call, exposing her. She confronts them, declaring her intent to kill Alan Mackenzie, whom she blames for her father's downfall. She accuses the FBI of falsely implicating Makoto Ishihara in the original kidnappings and causing his death. However, her quest for revenge stems from a profound misconception. Later revelations confirm Makoto Ishihara was indeed involved in the original kidnappings and a murder. The copycat crimes four years later, which she attributed to FBI malfeasance, were committed by another member of his group who confessed under a plea bargain. Her family entered witness protection, not exile. As she prepares to execute Mackenzie aboard the train, Shuichi Akai intervenes, firing a specialized projectile that incapacitates her and halts the murder.
