Description
Draconir, also known as Dragnir, is a Digital Friend from the Shadowverse universe. His full designation is Draconir, Knuckle Dragon. He is a unique Digital Friend, primarily distinguished by his ability to speak, a trait that is not common among other beings of his kind. The reason for this extraordinary capability is initially a mystery to him, and it is later discovered to be connected to his fragmented memories.
Regarding his background, Draconir first appears when his card is given to the protagonist Light Tenryu as part of a deck provided by the character Wolfram Zerga. Upon installing this deck onto his smartphone, Light witnesses Draconir emerge, surprising others like Subaru and Itsuki with his ability to articulate words. It is eventually revealed that Draconir's memory data was deliberately separated from him by a figure known as the Arc Ruler. These lost memories are stored in various data devices held by a group called the Seven Shadows. This discovery sets the course for a major part of his journey, as he and Light work together to recover these pieces and uncover the secret of his origins. Recovering the first piece of memory reveals his direct relation to the Arc Ruler, while the second piece shows that the Arc Ruler performed some kind of modification on him.
In terms of personality, Draconir is consistently portrayed as energetic and passionate. He is fiercely loyal to Light Tenryu, whom he supports and advises during their many battles. He cares deeply for Light's well-being, and their partnership is the core of his interactions. During combat, he communicates with Light when his card is drawn, offering strategic support and encouragement. His dialogue is often characterized by an upbeat and encouraging tone, reflecting his role as a trusted partner.
Draconir's role in the story is intrinsically linked to Light's journey. Beyond being a combat companion, his quest for his own lost memories serves as a primary driving force for a significant portion of the narrative. The mission to reclaim the data fragments from the Seven Shadows is central to his character arc. This journey forces him to confront his own past and his connection to the powerful Arc Ruler.
His character undergoes significant development as he regains his lost memories and unlocks new powers. This evolution is directly tied to pivotal battles. In his base form as Draconir, Knuckle Dragon, his notable ability includes a Fanfare effect that can place a Draconic Weapon into the player's hand and even recover an evolution point under certain conditions. As the story progresses, he achieves evolved states. During Light's battle against the Arc Ruler, Draconir transforms into his evolved legendary form, known as Draconir, Burning Dragon. In this state, his abilities focus on transforming unarmed Dragoncraft followers into their Armed versions, reducing their cost, and dealing additional damage when allied followers attack. He later undergoes a further evolution into Draconir, Burning Dragon Evolflame. This form is classified as a True Arms follower and is achieved during a subsequent battle against a powered-up Wolfram Zerga. This form represents the pinnacle of his power and development within the story's arc.
