Description
Ahid Alovo Agartz is a character from the second season of The Misfit of Demon King Academy, serving as a primary antagonist in the Selection Trial arc. He holds the title of the Oracle and is the Cardinal of Jiordal, a position of significant religious authority in the underground world of the draconids. Ahid is a rather tall man of average build, distinguished by his green eyes, black fingernails, and the pointed ears characteristic of the Draconid race. His hair is long and green with white ends, styled to cover the right side of his face. He typically wears white robes with golden accents, reflecting his high clerical status.
Outwardly, Ahid presents himself as a devout and pious man of faith who serves the Almighty Radiance, Equis. He preaches that the gods are almighty, perfect beings to whom all concepts of salvation can be traced, and he initially finds it incomprehensible that the demon king Anos Voldigoad could possess power surpassing that of the divine. However, this pious exterior is a complete fabrication. In truth, Ahid is a manipulative and irredeemable crook who has no genuine faith. He lies freely, proclaiming his own schemes to be the word of god without hesitation. He is entirely disloyal to the deities he claims to serve, coveting only their power for himself. To win the Selection Trial, he is willing to sacrifice his own followers, manipulating them into believing they are dying for a noble cause. He has no qualms about going directly against the wishes of his own patron god, only offering hollow pleas for forgiveness afterward to maintain his false image.
Ahid's primary motivation is to win the Selection Trial, a sacred ritual in which eight chosen mortals compete for the right to become a divine proxy. He was chosen for this trial by the goddess Arcana. Upon learning that the immensely powerful Demon King of Tyranny, Anos Voldigoad, was also a selected participant, Ahid viewed him as the greatest obstacle to his victory and began plotting his downfall. His schemes were wide-ranging and cruel. He manipulated King Lycius Engelo Gairadite by promising eternal life and power in exchange for having the king sacrifice his own people to dragons. He also collaborated with the Royalist Resistance in Midhaze, supplying them with powerful dragons to create chaos and undermine Anos's rule. He even coldly disposed of a fellow selected member and citizen of Jiordal, the Saint Gazel Apt Ageila, by excommunicating and then killing him to steal his divine orders under the false pretense of a divine message.
Ahid's most significant relationship is with his Selection God, Arcana. She is a kind goddess who chose him in a desperate gamble, hoping that even someone as corrupt as Ahid could be redeemed. Bound to him by a pact, Arcana was forced to carry out his wicked orders against her own will. Ahid, for his part, trampled over her feelings while publicly begging for forgiveness to maintain his act. After his defeat, he cruelly revealed that his entire faith was an act and that he had merely used her for his own convenience, leading Arcana to finally accept that choosing him was a mistake.
Throughout the Selection Trial arc, Ahid serves as a direct adversary to Anos Voldigoad. After a series of confrontations and exposed plots, he is finally defeated by Anos in a climactic battle. To fight Anos, Ahid uses the Moon of Creation, Altiertonoa, to reconstruct his body to withstand a full divine possession by Arcana, gaining immense power and access to her orders. In a last desperate move, Arcana fuses three divine weapons to create Leviangilma, the Sword of the Almighty. This sword grants Ahid near-complete invulnerability, as any wounds he receives are erased. The only way to bypass this defense is to draw the sword from its sheath and strike him three times, an act that would normally destroy the user's source across all of time. Anos overcomes this by using the spell Veneziara to realize all possibilities, effectively keeping the sword both drawn and not drawn at the same time, allowing him to sever Ahid's divine possession without being destroyed. After losing his invulnerability, Anos places Ahid under the spell Nedneliaz, trapping him in a nightmare where he is forced to preach that the Almighty Radiance does not exist. Anos eventually releases him from the dream to hear Arcana's true feelings, at which point Ahid, believing himself still in the nightmare, scoffs and reveals his complete lack of faith, proving he learned nothing from his defeat.
As the Oracle of the Selected Eight, Ahid possessed a number of notable abilities, most of which were borrowed from his contracted goddess. By invoking the spell Azept, he could possess the power of his Selection God, gaining access to the divine orders that she holds. Through Arcana, he could wield Altiertonoa, the Moon of Creation, which allowed him to freeze anything he desired or create lunar snowdrops. He also had access to the Order of Light, allowing him to move at light speed, the Order of Piercing to create powerful divine spears, and the Order of Restoration to heal or restore objects. After reconstructing his body, he gained a Divine Body capable of withstanding her power. While under the protection of Leviangilma, he achieved a state of functional immortality where spells had no effect and his wounds were continuously erased.
