Description
Francette Mercure is a first-year student at the Royal Academy of Magic and a member of the theater club. Known affectionately by her nickname Fran, she is easily recognized by her distinctive appearance which includes large round glasses, triangular eyebrows, and dark green hair styled into two long braided pigtails. She comes from a noble family as the daughter of a viscount, a rank that is relatively low in the aristocratic hierarchy, which has historically been a source of insecurity for her.

In the original otome game Magical Academy Love & Beast, Francette was initially designed to be the protagonist Anna Doll's best friend and primary source of information about the game world. However, when the story's events are altered by the reincarnation of a middle-aged bureaucrat as the villainess Grace Auvergne, Francette's intended role is diminished as Grace becomes Anna's close companion instead. It is not until the school festival, when the student council decides to put on a play, that Francette emerges from the background. The theater club president recommends her to assist the student council due to her unparalleled theatrical knowledge, as she has read every script preserved within the club's archives.

Francette's personality is defined by her immense enthusiasm and curiosity. She is a self-described theater nerd and possesses a distinctly modern otaku mindset that she applies to the magical world around her. She becomes a fervent supporter of the student council, openly declaring herself a group fan and documenting their activities with the latest magical tool, a camera. Her excitement can be overwhelming; when witnessing a particularly heartwarming interaction between Grace and Anna, she becomes so overwhelmed with emotion that she suffers a nosebleed and faints. She even understands and references modern concepts like microtransactions, once excitedly asking where she could pay to support a favorite moment.

Despite her sharp memory for faces, names, and interpersonal relationships, Francette struggles with abstract academic subjects, particularly science and magic theory, which she describes as having no faces for her to remember. This difficulty is overcome when Grace Auvergne teaches her a unique study method of personifying abstract concepts. This advice leads to a dramatic improvement in her grades, allowing her to excel in subjects that were once her weaknesses. Recognizing her growth, her dedication to the school festival play, and her value to the student council, both Grace and Anna recommend Francette for the official position of student council secretary, a role she accepts with pride and renewed confidence.

Her key relationships include a close friendship with Anna Doll, whom she addresses with a unique and affectionate honorific. She holds deep gratitude for Grace Auvergne, who recognized her talents and helped her overcome her academic and personal insecurities, serving as a mentor figure. Francette's relationship with her father is briefly explored in a later story event, showing a warm familial connection. Through the recognition and support she finds within the student council, Francette overcomes her initial complex about her lower noble status and her previous feelings that her passion for theater was not a useful skill for an aristocratic lady.
