Description
Young Vash originated as an independent Plant, a humanoid interdimensional being discovered aboard a SEEDs spaceship alongside his twin brother, Millions Knives. Rem Saverem found them and became their adoptive caregiver. Initially, they aged rapidly, maturing from newborns to young children within about a year under Rem's care, though their physical aging dramatically slowed after reaching young adulthood despite significant chronological age advancement.

During early childhood, an accidental venture into a restricted ship area exposed the twins to Tesla, another independent Plant subjected to fatal vivisection and experimentation by the crew. Witnessing Tesla's suffering inflicted profound trauma on young Vash, sparking intense despair and hatred toward humanity. This culminated in a suicide attempt where he accidentally injured Rem. Her intervention, sharing her own past struggles and affirming faith in humanity's potential, fundamentally reshaped his perspective. He developed an unwavering commitment to pacifism and the intrinsic value of life, core tenets of his identity.

Contrasting sharply with Knives, who embraced nihilism and hostility toward humans after the Tesla incident, young Vash clung to Rem's teachings on coexistence and compassion, defining their divergent paths. Knives later sabotaged the ship's navigation, deliberately causing the fleet to crash onto the planet Gunsmoke (No Man's Land) in the Great Fall. Rem secured the twins in an escape pod but sacrificed her own life remaining aboard to mitigate the disaster. This devastating loss compounded Vash's trauma, cementing his lifelong dedication to preserving life in her honor.

Young Vash possessed blond hair, blue eyes, and a childlike stature reflecting his developmental stage. His experiences aboard the SEEDs ship—particularly the revelation of humanity's cruelty toward Plants and his adoptive mother's sacrificial death—forged his pacifist convictions and emotional resilience. These events established the foundation for his enduring struggle to uphold nonviolence amidst relentless conflict.
