Description
Hizuki Reynard-Yamada is a central figure in her story, introduced as a high school student attending the Magic Academy of Akihabara. She is a half-elf, a heritage that marks her as an outsider from the start, as her father was human and her mother was an elf from two of the city's rival districts, leading to her being mockingly called Bat Girl. Physically, she is a very beautiful young woman with a striking and memorable appearance defined by her heterochromia: her right eye is gold while her left eye is a deep red. She has long hair and a notable figure.

Hizuki carries the heavy burden of being the current head of the Reynard family, one of the three noble houses that traditionally rule Akihabara. However, her life was shattered a decade ago when her parents were killed in a mysterious attack, and the family's most treasured artifact, the Regalia or Royal Orb, was thought to be lost. This tragedy sent the Reynard house into ruin. Stripped of her family's prestige and wealth, Hizuki lives in financial hardship and social isolation. To survive and pay for her daily expenses, she works a secret part-time job as a waitress at the Helheim maid café, a fact she conceals from her peers at the elite academy.

Hizuki's personality is a classic tsundere archetype. She often presents a tough, cold, and even abrasive exterior, pushing people away with sharp words. This defensive front, however, masks a deep inner loneliness, vulnerability, and a sense of not belonging anywhere. Beneath her prickly surface, she is determined and hardworking, never giving up despite the overwhelming difficulties she faces. Her isolation is compounded by her status as a magicless failure at the academy. Despite her prestigious lineage as a half-elf, she possesses an abnormally low capacity for magic and cannot cast spells, making her a target for mockery and bullying from other students who see her as having gained admission only through family connections.

This seeming inability is the result of a profound secret hidden within her own body. The missing Royal Orb was never lost; it was sealed within her right eye. This artifact acts as a vessel for the goddess Meldia, who resides within Hizuki without her knowledge. The vast majority of Hizuki's magical energy is unconsciously drained away to power this seal, preventing Meldia from manifesting and explaining her own lack of magical ability. Her strange golden eye is thus not just a physical trait but the key to this divine imprisonment.

Hizuki's role in the story begins to transform with her encounter with Veltol Velvet Velsvalt, the titular Demon Lord. While everyone else scorns her for her weakness, Veltol sees something special in her, nicknaming her Hijiki and making a genuine effort to befriend her. He becomes a pivotal figure in her life, physically saving her and, more importantly, offering her a connection that breaks her cycle of isolation. Through him, she begins to make friends for the first time in years and starts to care for him deeply. Her trajectory is one of forced self-discovery. Evil forces, seeking to awaken the goddess, attempt to use Hizuki as a sacrifice to artificially summon Meldia, but she is rescued by Veltol.

After the resolution of this conflict, Hizuki undergoes a significant development. By gathering all the pieces of the Regalia, she becomes the official ruler of Akihabara, a position that is her birthright. However, she finds no joy in this achievement, as the city holds only painful memories of loss and betrayal. In a decisive act of defiance, she publicly abolishes the monarchy, insulting the assembled citizens and telling them to solve their own problems. She turns her back on the title and legacy that caused her so much suffering, choosing to leave Akihabara behind. Her journey ends with her decision to transfer to a new school in Shinjuku, seeking a fresh start. Deep within, her experiences forge a new motivation: a burning desire for revenge against the villain who orchestrated her family's downfall and a strong, growing attachment to the demon lord who gave her back her life.
