Description
Djinn Senya is one of the main characters in the anime, a powerful being from another realm who resides within a shrine. Senya is a large, muscular figure with distinctive pinkish-red skin. He has long, fiery red hair that stands upright, and he sports a red tattoo around his neck that bears his name. His attire is ornate and consistent with a djinn, consisting of a red and gold belt with a sun emblem, brown and gold flaps hanging from the waist, red harem pants decorated with golden suns, and pointed brown and gold shoes. He also wears golden bands on each arm.
Senya’s personality is initially characterized by frustration and a sense of superiority over humans. When first summoned by the protagonist Arajin Tomoshibi, he is dismissive, viewing his new "master" as a coward and a disappointment. This stems from Senya’s desire for a strong and ambitious wielder, as his power is meant to grant a fervent wish. However, Arajin’s greatest desire is simply to lose his virginity and have a normal high school life, a goal that Senya finds trivial and incomprehensible. Despite this rocky start, a pact is formed when Arajin’s life is in danger, forcibly linking their fates.
As the story progresses, Senya’s motivations become more complex. While he has the power to grant wishes, his reasons for being secretive with Arajin come under question, leading to suspicions that he may have his own agenda or is simply using the young man for his own purposes. He encourages Arajin to fight, a stark contrast to the boy’s own cowardly and avoidant nature, which creates a constant push-and-pull dynamic between them. Unlike many other characters who idolize Arajin or want him to conform to their expectations, Senya sees him clearly, flaws and all, and calls him out on his behavior. This creates a relationship that is more of an unexpected and bickering partnership than a traditional master-servant bond.
Senya’s primary role in the story is as the supernatural counterpart and foil to the protagonist. His presence forces Arajin into the world of gang conflicts he desperately wants to avoid. A significant part of his narrative function is tied to his connection with Ichiya, another djinn. Senya and Ichiya are opposites in both fighting style and perhaps in history. While Senya prefers a direct, head-on assault focused heavily on powerful punches, his fighting style is the antithesis of Ichiya’s, and this imbalance often leads to Senya losing in their confrontations. The fate of these two djinn appears to be intertwined, with their eventual conflict serving as a major underlying driver for the plot.
Senya’s most notable abilities are those of a wish-granting djinn, though the exact nature and limitations of this power are closely tied to his bond with Arajin. He can magically enhance his wielder, allowing them to fight with immense strength. When Arajin accepts their link, he can merge with Senya to access this raw power and combat prowess. In combat on his own, Senya is an incredibly strong brawler. His fighting style is aggressive, relentless, and almost purely focused on punching. He prefers to close the distance and overwhelm his opponents with brute force, rarely using kicks except for movement or dodging. This straightforward, power-based approach is a core part of his identity as a fighter.
