Description
Keigo Kurata is a high school student and a recurring character who serves as a friend and classmate to the male lead, Saki Hananoi. Keigo is an active member of the school's basketball club, a pursuit he takes very seriously. His dedication to the sport is evident as he became a regular player on the team starting from his first year of high school, a position that creates a somewhat tense or awkward dynamic with the senior members of the club.

Keigo is generally perceived as an outgoing, loud, and optimistic individual, making him well-liked among his peers. He approaches both his athletic endeavors and his social interactions with a high level of energy and ambition, though he is not portrayed as particularly strong in academic studies. A notable trait of his personality is a tendency to deliberately choose not to read the atmosphere of a situation, which can make him seem blunt or insensitive, though this appears to be a conscious habit rather than a lack of awareness. Despite his forward nature, he is capable of respecting personal boundaries, as seen in his friendship with Saki Hananoi; he actively seeks opportunities to bond with Saki but is careful not to overstep his limits, genuinely hoping that Saki can learn to trust others more.

His role in the story is closely tied to both the protagonist and her close friends. Keigo shares a history with the female lead, Hotaru Hinase, having attended the same middle school. He is also the boyfriend of Hibiki Asami, who affectionately calls him "Kei-chan". Their relationship began when Hibiki confessed her feelings to him; it was only after they kissed that Keigo realized he loved her in return. This personal experience influences his role as an observer and occasional advisor to the main couple. Drawing from how he discovered his own feelings, he once advised Hotaru that getting close to someone's face is a way to find out if she likes that person.

Outside of school and his social circle, Keigo is known to own a large golden retriever as a pet. He also has a minor but specific dislike for tapioca drinks. While his primary motivation is his ambition in basketball, his personal development centers on his romantic relationship with Hibiki Asami, through which he navigates the process of recognizing and acting upon his own emotions.
