Description
Aphélie is the eldest daughter of the Baron family and the sister of Nadir. She holds a significant connection to the royal court of Euphor, as her family has served the royal family for generations. Aphélie was the first maid of honor to Vegalia and a childhood friend of Actarus, the prince of Euphor. Her social status and the precise nature of her relationship with Actarus in this adaptation differ from her original series counterpart.

In terms of personality, Aphélie is depicted as graceful and resigned to her difficult circumstances. Having served and held great affection for Vegalia, she is willing to sacrifice her own feelings for the prince. This loyalty extends to a deep-seated desire to ensure the happiness of those she has served, even at the cost of her own life and love.

Her primary motivation in the story is initially not her own. After being captured and enslaved by Sargas, she is subjected to brainwashing before being sent to Earth with the sole mission of assassinating Actarus. This external control overrides her true self, turning her into a tool against her childhood friend.

Aphélie first appears in the second episode of Grendizer U. Her storyline serves as a direct homage to a memorable episode from the original series. During her time on Earth, she is controlled remotely by a device reminiscent of a brainwashing pulse generator, though this device is not embedded in her skull. Instead, it is integrated into a jewel or stone set within a ferronnière she wears. After a period of being controlled, she eventually regains her true memories and senses. In a final act of redemption, she sacrifices herself by detonating a proton bomb near the Golgoth Dari to prevent it from causing massive destruction in Japan.

Her key relationships are central to her tragedy. She shares a deep, unspoken love for Actarus, her childhood friend, but is resigned to never act upon it. Her loyalty to Vegalia is a defining trait, and her capture by Sargas is the catalyst for her villainous actions. The episode that focuses on her concludes with her singing "Ai no Uta," a song that serves as her thematic farewell. Her notable abilities include her resilience against her brainwashing, which she ultimately overcomes, and her vocal performance of this song.
