In most situations, Kaka maintains the appearance of a small child, with traits common to her species such as large eyes and distinctive animal-like ears. Unlike the majority of her kind who undergo a significant transformation after living for three thousand years, Kaka was born having already completed this change, making her an unprecedented anomaly even among the Shoshi. She possesses the power to temporarily transform into an adult form, during which her animal-like ears become large, majestic wings that grant her the ability to fly. In this matured state, her voice gains potent control over others, allowing her to manipulate their actions. Her speech and demeanor become more mature and graceful when transformed, and she addresses Ichiyo by name rather than as Sensei. However, this outward maturity does not reflect her internal state; she remains emotionally childlike and vulnerable, easily reverting to tears and tantrums if Ichiyo reprimands her.

In the story, Kaka serves as one of Ichiyo's familiars, accompanying her on perilous missions that involve tracking and securing malevolent gods who have brought chaos to the world. Her role is defined almost entirely by her relationship with Ichiyo, whom she defends with immediate aggression against anyone who poses a threat. A specific incident highlights this dynamic when a character named Bui attempted to drive Kaka away from Ichiyo's home. In response, Kaka briefly manifested her powerful adult form, using her wings and voice-based abilities to resist, yet she immediately returned to her childish emotional state when Ichiyo scolded her. This event underscores her development as a being who, despite possessing formidable powers, is still growing and whose psychological maturity lags far behind her physical potential.
