Description
Masaki Fujiyoshi is a primary protagonist in the anime Tadaima, Okaeri. He is an omega, a secondary gender that faces significant societal prejudice, and he is married to an alpha named Hiromu Fujiyoshi. Initially lacking confidence in himself, Masaki chose to become a stay-at-home husband and father, dedicating himself to caring for their home and their children, a son named Hikari and later a daughter named Hinata. His background includes the experience of a so-called status-gap marriage, which drew criticism from Hiromu’s family and society, and this external judgment deeply affected his self-worth. Masaki often struggles with feelings of being a burden to Hiromu, which leads him to bottle up his emotions and present a calm, smiling exterior even when he is hurting. Despite this inner turmoil, he is fundamentally a kind and gentle person who loves his family more than anything and draws strength from the happiness they give him. His central motivation is to create a warm, stable home for his family and to become a partner and parent he can be proud of. Over the course of the story, Masaki gradually learns to accept his own value, supported by Hiromu’s unwavering affection and by the friendships he builds in their new neighborhood, especially with the university student Yūki Hirai and fellow parent Michiru Mochizuki. This slow progression toward self-acceptance and resilience forms the core of his personal development. Masaki does not possess any extraordinary abilities; his notable skills lie in his homemaking and caregiving, through which he nurtures his family’s daily life. His role in the narrative centers on navigating the challenges of an omega in a discriminatory society while finding peace and belonging within his own household.
