Description
Kazuki Shindō is a second-year student at Tensei Academy, sharing homeroom and a close friendship with Hiro Ryūgasaki and Mimori Amamiya. His family runs a diner, and with six younger brothers, he developed a strong sense of responsibility helping care for them, later extending to managing the family restaurant.
Initially, Kazuki struggled significantly with Shadowverse, recognized as the least skilled among his peers, leading Kai Ijuin to underestimate him. Despite early tournament losses to Mimori and Kai, he persisted with dedicated practice. His efforts culminated in notable improvement during an in-store tournament, where he fought a close match against Hiro.
Kazuki specializes in Swordcraft, wielding a deck focused on swarming the board with followers and executing quick-attack strategies. His signature card, Victorious Blader, acts as a defensive cornerstone, reducing damage to his leader and followers while active, reflecting his straightforward, determined approach.
Teaming with Kai for a Shadow Grand Prix tag duel against Zuo and Ko, Kazuki overcame initial friction to secure victory, earning Kai's newfound respect. The duo later achieved Gold Rank after defeating Shadow Knights. Chosen alongside his friends to stop the Tree of Woe, Kazuki ventured into the ruins of Mythical Cards. With Hiro's assistance, he confronted and defeated a shadow-possessed Zuo and Ko, acquiring a Mythical Card.
Inside the Tree of Woe's dream world, Kazuki experienced a vision reflecting his contentment with his current life. Guided by Asagi, he navigated to his Legendary Card's realm. Isabelle aided his escape before Erika captured him; he defeated Erika in a Shadowverse battle, facilitating his return to reality. Kazuki later supported Hiro in the final confrontation against Leon.
Three years later, Kazuki co-managed his family's Nekome restaurant with Kai. They encountered Itsuki Mitsutagawa and recounted experiences with the Seven Shadows. When Shade monsters invaded Nekome, Kazuki urged Kai to respond to Hiro's message about reclaiming the Mythical Cards at Shadowverse College. During their journey, they received aid from Zuo and Ko against the Shades. Following the revival of the Tree of Woe by Wolfram Zerga, Kazuki reunited with his friends and entrusted the world's safety to Light Tenryu. After the Tree of Woe's defeat, Kazuki and Kai gifted Itsuki a "special prize," acknowledging their role as saviors, though most others forgot these events.
Kazuki exhibits an energetic, friendly demeanor, though he can appear clumsy or simple-minded. He approaches Shadowverse with genuine enthusiasm, embracing each match wholeheartedly regardless of the outcome. His perseverance and commitment to self-improvement, even amid repeated losses, define his character arc. This trait, combined with his loyalty to friends and family, forms the core of his development.
