Description
Kōhei Shimada is a supporting antagonist in the 2024 animated film Fureru, produced by CloverWorks. He serves as an assistant teacher at the fashion university where Yūta Inohara studies and is also the homeroom teacher's assistant for Yūta's class. However, his role extends far beyond that of a simple educator.
Shimada is revealed to be a stalker who has been fixated on Nana Asakawa, a fashion student. He impersonates a school teacher and repeatedly eavesdrops on conversations between Nana and her bodyguard Juri Kamozawa, escalating his intrusions into her life. His actions escalate to the point where he ambushes and wounds Nana when she is alone, forcing her to be hospitalized. This attack is a key turning point in the film, as it directly leads to the trio of main characters confronting their own fractured friendship and ultimately reconciling. Following the climax of the film, in which the magical creature Fureru removes the threads of chaos affecting the town, Shimada is arrested by the police along with the other primary characters, though the latter are later reconciled.
Shimada is portrayed as a dangerous and obsessive individual whose manipulative and predatory behavior serves as a real-world threat that contrasts with the more fantastical elements of the story involving the magical creature Fureru. His actions directly endanger Nana and create a sense of peril that forces the main characters to work together. His primary ability or notable trait is his skill at deception and impersonation, allowing him to gain access to his victims under a false identity. His key relationships are defined by his obsession with Nana and his role as a figure of authority (a teacher) that he abuses for personal and harmful ends. His development in the story is minimal; he functions as a static antagonist whose criminal behavior is ultimately stopped by the authorities.
