Movie
Description
The Demon of Typhoons, more commonly known as the Typhoon Devil, is a devil who embodies the primal human fear of typhoons and powerful storms. In the context of the film, this being serves as a significant secondary antagonist, acting as a formidable enforcer for the primary antagonist, Reze, during the Bomb Girl arc.

In terms of background, the Typhoon Devil is a classic devil whose power is directly proportionate to the widespread fear of the natural disaster it represents. Before aligning with Reze, the Typhoon Devil was contracted to an unnamed assassin, who sought to claim the heart of Chainsaw Man. This arrangement was cut short when Reze killed the assassin. Following this, the Typhoon Devil quickly shifted its allegiance, demonstrating a pragmatic and self-serving nature. An interview with the manga's creator revealed that in the timeline of the story, this incarnation of the Typhoon Devil is actually a relatively young entity, comparable to a baby, which may factor into its role and ultimate defeat.

The personality of the Typhoon Devil is defined by a clear and distinct subservience. Upon recognizing Reze's strength and position after her assassination of its former contractor, the devil immediately became deferential, addressing her with great respect and willingly agreeing to serve and obey her in exchange for its own safety. It acts as a loyal, if somewhat simple, subordinate who follows orders without question or personal ambition, focusing its efforts on supporting Reze’s mission.

Its primary motivation is self-preservation. Initially, it entered a contract with an assassin to gain the Chainsaw heart, a legendary devil organ, likely as a means to increase its own power or standing. Once that plan fell apart, it chose to serve Reze to ensure its own survival. It does not appear to have a grand, independent scheme but instead operates as a tool for a more powerful player. Its role in the story is therefore to act as Reze’s brute force and heavy artillery. It is responsible for creating the massive, inescapable storm that traps Denji and Reze within a school. Later, it serves as a powerful combatant, crashing through buildings to enter the final battle and attacking Denji directly, clearing the way for Reze. The Typhoon Devil functions as a major physical obstacle that Denji must overcome before he can truly confront Reze.

Regarding key relationships, its most significant connection is with Reze. The devil is entirely subservient to her, following her commands and even providing her with its own blood to help her regenerate lost limbs during combat. However, this relationship is one-sided; while the Typhoon Devil shows great loyalty, Reze treats it more as a disposable tool and shows no concern when Denji finally destroys it. Its other relationship is with its former contractor, a serial killer, whom it spoke with about the dangers of Chainsaw Man. Its relationship with Denji is purely antagonistic, as it angrily recognizes him as a threat and tries to eliminate him.

The character shows no true development or change throughout the arc. It is a static figure, introduced as an obedient and powerful devil and remains so until its death. Its development is more physical and related to scale: in the film adaptation, its destructive power is depicted on a much grander scale, with its storm capable of devastating an entire city, forcing Denji to prioritize defeating it to prevent mass destruction. Its demise comes at the hands of Denji riding the shark fiend Beam. Denji manages to cut through the swirling storm of brain matter that surrounds the Typhoon Devil’s body, slicing through its head and killing it, causing its massive corpse to collapse.

The notable abilities of the Typhoon Devil are extensive and catastrophic. As a devil, it has the standard ability to form contracts with humans. Its primary power is Storm Creation. By spinning its gut-like bodily extensions at immense speeds, it constantly generates a powerful typhoon around itself. This storm is strong enough to destroy concrete buildings, lift cars and people into the air, and create localized rain to trap its targets. It possesses Enhanced Strength and Size, being a gigantic humanoid capable of destroying buildings simply by running through them. It also has a unique form of Water Communication, allowing it to manifest as a swirling drain of water for long-distance conversations while still being able to form contracts. In the movie version, its power was significantly enhanced, making its storm a threat to the entire city and elevating its status to a mid-boss caliber threat that required extensive teamwork to defeat. The devil’s grotesque appearance is also notable, resembling a giant with the top of its head missing, exposing its brain, which is physically connected to a swirling vortex of internal organs around its body.
