TV-Series
Description
Pepesha Andreanova, known by her hero alias Spirits, is the hero representing Russia in the anime Shy. She is a tall woman in her late twenties with a fair complexion and stands about 174 centimeters tall. Pepesha serves as a senior hero and mentor to the protagonist, Teru Momijiyama, who fights as Japan's hero, Shy.
Her background is shaped by her late mother, Lenya, who drank alcohol in order to express emotions to her daughter. Pepesha adopted the same habit, and she is well known among the heroes as an alcoholic who is usually seen drinking, particularly vodka. Drinking loosens her personality and makes her outgoing and cheerful; when sober she is much quieter and more reserved, to the point that she tells Teru she would not even recognize her in that state.
In personality, Pepesha is kind-hearted, empathetic, and deeply devoted to helping others, often concealing her own worries behind a bright smile. While drinking she becomes blunt, assertive, and lively, saying exactly what is on her mind. She understands the harsh realities of hero work, including the fact that a hero cannot save everyone, and she shares this perspective with Shy when the younger hero struggles with self-doubt.
Her motivations center on protecting people and supporting her fellow heroes. She is a reliable ally who offers advice like an older sister and acts as an emotional pillar for the hero team. In the story, she is one of the heroes responsible for guarding the Earth's heart, and she invites Shy to take part in that mission. She is also the first hero to search for Shy when the younger hero goes missing and the first to lend Teru a hand during a rescue operation. Later events, particularly an arc set in Russia, explore her personal past and her connection to the character Tzveta.
In combat, Pepesha uses a heat conversion bracelet that channels her heart spirit into power, granting her superhuman strength, speed, and endurance. She can manipulate smoke and control gases in the surrounding atmosphere, and she can transform her own body into smoke to become intangible and evade physical attacks. Her signature technique is the Gas Cannon, also called the Fuwa Fuwa Cannon. She uses her smoke to search for civilians, trap enemies, and support her team in battle, and she shows enough skill to subdue a group of robbers even before receiving formal hero training. As the story progresses, she also gains the ability to control ice.
