TV-Series
Description
Honeda is a character from the anime Plus-Sized Elf who presents a unique case among the series' cast of mythological beings. Unlike many other characters who are living creatures from another world struggling with weight gain, Honeda is a living skeleton. She is typically depicted with blue eyes and blue hair, often worn in braids, and her skeletal nature is a core aspect of her identity.
Honeda was not originally a skeleton. In life, she was a human magician from a fantasy world. Her journey to the human world was accidental and tragic, as she stumbled through a portal and was immediately hit by a car. This event left her in a state where she could not move for a very long time. Eventually, her bones were discovered and assembled by Laika, a wolf-like character, leading to Honeda reanimating as a skeleton monster in the human world.
Her primary motivation and the central challenge she faces are directly tied to her magical abilities and her long period of inactivity. As a former magician, Honeda possesses the power to create a temporary magical pseudo-body, a simulated form that projects what she looked like when she was alive. However, due to her traumatic accident and the subsequent extended period of being immobile, the mental image she holds of herself became distorted. Consequently, the simulated body she now creates, while resembling her living form, appears plump or overweight. Her goal is to correct this, often seeking help from the human osteopath Naoe to learn proper posture and exercises that can help her spine and, by extension, her projected form.
In the story, Honeda interacts closely with the main cast, including Naoe and Laika. Her role often provides both a source of supernatural humor and a unique medical challenge for Naoe, who uses his knowledge of physical therapy to address the skeletal posture issues that affect her magical self-image. Her personality can be inferred from her situation: despite her morbid origins as a skeleton who died in a foreign world, she is integrated into the group's comedic and health-related adventures. She has notable limitations, such as being unable to swim in her human-like projected form, which leads to her becoming waterlogged in aquatic situations. Her development focuses on her journey to change her self-image and physical health through the exercises and support she receives, allowing her to work toward manifesting her living form as she wishes it to be.
