TV-Series
Description
Ariel Baba is the young daughter of Shizue Baba, the underground idol known as Miiko who appears in the anime Jellyfish Can't Swim in the Night. She is a female character with brown hair that reaches her neck and yellow eyes.

Before the events of the series, Ariel was described as having a rather reserved and introverted personality. Her mother, Shizue, played a significant role in helping her break out of her shell, gain confidence, and make friends at school. This supportive relationship is central to Ariel's character; she deeply admires her mother, viewing her not just as an idol but as a personal hero for the way she has supported her life. The bond between mother and daughter is portrayed as very loving and stable, a dynamic that stands in stark contrast to the strained, business-like relationship that protagonist Kano has with her own mother.

In the story, Ariel is initially embarrassed to wear the cute, frilly outfits her mother makes for her in public, having been picked on by classmates because of her mother's idol career. Despite this bullying, she remains supportive of her mother's dreams. Ariel's role becomes more prominent when she bonds with Mei Takanashi, a member of the JELEE group, over their shared experience of being devoted fans. Mei, who is a passionate supporter of Kano, encourages Ariel to be proud of her love for her mother's work and to stand tall as her number one fan.

This advice leads to Ariel's key moment of development. Inspired by Mei's words, she overcomes her shyness and decides to wear one of her mother's handmade idol costumes while out with friends at a shrine. When confronted by boys who mock her and post nasty comments about her mother online, Ariel courageously stands up to them, proudly declaring herself to be her mother's top otaku or biggest fan. This act of bravery allows her to fully embrace her identity as Miiko's daughter and supporter. Her notable ability is her capacity for fierce loyalty and her willingness to publicly defend her mother, demonstrating a strength of character that has been nurtured by their positive relationship.
