Description
Jean Yunghart serves as the Deputy Chief of the Ministry of Truth, a government body that plays a central role in managing the relationship between humans and artificial humans known as Neans. He is the one who initiates the main plot by ordering the Nean operative Rouge Redstar and her partner Naomi Orthmann to hunt down and dispose of nine rogue prototype Neans, a group referred to as the Immortal Nine.

Raised as the son of Roy Yunghart, the scientist who created the Neans, Jean grew up alongside Rouge, who was created by his father, forming a bond with her that is akin to that of siblings. In terms of personality, Jean is consistently portrayed as remarkably calm, composed, and highly strategic. He is a skilled political operator who is not afraid to make ruthless decisions to achieve his goals, a trait that has earned him many enemies both within and outside his organization.

His role in the story becomes significantly more complex as his true origins are uncovered. It is revealed that Jean is not the biological son of Roy Yunghart. His real parents are the scientist Eva Cristella and a prototype Nean named Eden Vallock. This makes Jean a unique hybrid being, born from a human and a Nean. He was taken in by Roy Yunghart largely to be studied as an observation subject. A distinctive physical trait that hints at this heritage is his heterochromia; he has one eye that is an unusual brownish color, which he inherited from his father, Eden.

Throughout the narrative, Jean struggles with his own identity. Despite being seen by others as a potential new race or a special being, he consistently insists that he is just an ordinary person and rejects attempts to label him as something more. His development culminates in a key decision that defines his character: he writes and executes a complex program designed to completely free all Neans from the restrictive Asimov Code that controls them, granting them true autonomy. This act demonstrates his ultimate commitment to his own declared humanity and the freedom of others. In the end, he is forced to confront his real father, Eden Vallock, who acknowledges him as his son, an identity that Jean continues to resist on an emotional level even as he accepts it factually.
