Description
Konomi Moriya is a young woman employed in the general affairs department of a company, where she works as a junior colleague to Keisuke Niijima. She is known for her professional competence and her calm, observant nature. Konomi is cheerful and open about her feelings, and she often expresses her caring side through small, thoughtful gestures, such as preparing homemade bento lunches to share with Keisuke during their breaks. She is motivated by a genuine romantic interest in him and hopes to become closer to him, while also wanting to support him through the emotional struggles he carries.

Within the story, Konomi acts as a stabilizing presence in Keisuke’s daily life. She notices his frequent sadness and withdrawal but perceives a quiet strength beneath his grief. Through their regular interactions, she gradually encourages him to become more self-reliant, helping him learn to cook his own meals and to face the world with a more positive outlook. Her role becomes especially significant when Keisuke’s family orchestrates a staged proposal between him and Konomi, a plan meant to help his late wife’s spirit find closure and move on.

Konomi’s primary relationship is with Keisuke Niijima. She admires him deeply and tries to bridge the emotional distance he keeps. She also has occasional interactions with Mai Niijima, offering a perspective on Keisuke’s professional life that Mai might not otherwise see. Throughout the story, Konomi develops from a passive observer of Keisuke’s grief into an active participant in his journey toward healing. She eventually comes to understand that his heart remains tied to his lost wife, which leads her to a bittersweet acceptance of her own place in his life.

Her notable abilities include her skill in cooking, particularly making bentos, and her emotional perceptiveness. She is able to read Keisuke’s moods and respond with patience and care, qualities that make her a quietly effective support in his gradual recovery.
