Description
Bunbee is a character who appears in the anime Power of Hope: Precure Full Bloom, having originally debuted in earlier entries of the Precure franchise. His reappearance in this series marks a significant point in his long and winding personal history, showcasing how far he has come from his initial days as a villain.

By the time of the events in Power of Hope: Precure Full Bloom, Bunbee has left his life of supervillainy far behind and is now an ordinary member of the workforce. He is employed by a building management company, where his job involves inspecting properties for potential renovation. This represents a notable shift from his past; he had previously started his own business, the Bunbee Company, but it ultimately did not succeed, leading him to this more conventional job. His appearance has not changed much over the years, and he still possesses the ability to transform into his powerful, humanoid bee form when the situation demands it.

In terms of personality, Bunbee in this series retains the pragmatic and slightly opportunistic traits that defined him in the past, but these are now tempered by a more grounded and weary outlook. He is initially reluctant to get involved in the new crisis brought about by the Shadows, the monsters born from human despair. He prefers to avoid danger and, when he first reunites with the adult Pretty Cure heroines, he tells them he would rather opt out of helping them directly. However, this reluctance is not born of malice but rather a sensible, if somewhat self-serving, desire to live a peaceful life. He is still prone to moments of clumsiness and can be somewhat opportunistic, as seen when he tries to rent an apartment to Coco partly to improve his own sales record. Despite these small flaws, he has become a more lighthearted and helpful individual, having long since abandoned his villainous ambitions.

His role in the story is that of a reluctant ally and a source of comic relief, as well as a representation of an ordinary adult navigating life's challenges. He inadvertently becomes involved when he witnesses a woman transform into a Shadow while inspecting an apartment building. Forced to flee and use his powers to escape, he is drawn back into the orbit of the Precure. He provides minor but crucial assistance, such as helping the fairy Coco find a place to live. While he is not a frontline fighter against the main threats, his presence helps ground the narrative, showing a former antagonist who has integrated into society and deals with mundane problems like employment and customer service.

His key relationships are primarily with the main characters from the Yes! Precure 5 team. His history with them is complex, having evolved from a persistent enemy to a reluctant acquaintance and, eventually, a friend to some of them. In this series, he reconnects with the grown-up heroines, including Nozomi Yumehara, Saki Hyuuga, and Mai Mishou. While some of the girls, like Nozomi and Urara, consider him a friend, others like Rin and Kurumi are more suspicious and still regard him as a troublesome figure from their past. A notable moment occurs when he is saved from a Shadow by Cure Dream, the alter ego of Nozomi. He expresses deep admiration for her, particularly because she addresses him respectfully by name, a small gesture that clearly means a great deal to him.

The character shows a clear development from his earlier appearances. Having started as a mid-level manager in the Nightmare organization, then a low-ranking underling in Eternal, and later the owner of his own small company, he finally arrives at a place of relative stability as a building manager. His arc in Power of Hope: Precure Full Bloom reflects a continued theme of the struggles and small victories of adult life. He no longer seeks power or conquest; instead, his goals are to keep his job and avoid being attacked by monsters. In a meaningful moment, he even encourages the townspeople to cultivate their own hope and strength rather than always relying on the Precure to save them, showing his own growth into a character who offers wisdom, however pragmatically delivered. By the end of the series, he is seen helping out with community services, having fully settled into his role as a supporting member of the community.

As for notable abilities, Bunbee retains the power to transform from his human guise into his original, more powerful bee-like form. In this true form, he is a muscular humanoid bee adorned with segmented red and yellow-gold armor, complete with wing-like appendages on his shoulders. His most iconic ability is flight, which he had famously forgotten he could do during a life-threatening fall in a previous series. In Power of Hope: Precure Full Bloom, he uses this ability again to escape from the Shadows, having to actively remind himself that he can fly. While his combat capabilities are not a primary focus in this series, his transformation allows him to evade danger and protect himself, proving that he can still hold his own when necessary.
