Description
Ludlow is a supporting character in Pokémon Horizons: The Series. He grew up in Olivine City in the Johto region and is a fisherman by trade. He is one of the founding members of the Rising Volt Tacklers, the team of adventurers who travel aboard the airship known as the Brave Olivine. Ludlow originally owned a fishing boat, which he later lent to Friede after Friede met his partner Pikachu. That boat was eventually modified and became the Brave Olivine, making Ludlow a key early contributor to the group. He also served as a mentor to Friede, frequently going out to sea with him.

In terms of personality, Ludlow tends to keep to himself and seldom participates in group meetings or social gatherings. However, he is caring and willingly offers advice and guidance to other members of the Rising Volt Tacklers when they need it. He often dispenses calm, sage wisdom in the form of short sayings or pearls of knowledge. Despite his quiet demeanor, he is deeply dependable and helps out whenever the situation calls for it.

His primary motivation appears to be supporting his friends and the group’s mission, rather than seeking personal glory. In his younger days, Ludlow led a secret life as an ocean-themed superhero known as Mighty G, where he protected the world’s oceans alongside the Pokémon Palafin. He has since retired from that role and now struggles to maintain his empowered Mighty G form for more than about five minutes. Nevertheless, he occasionally calls upon this persona to defend the Brave Olivine and his companions from threats such as the Explorers.

Ludlow’s role within the Rising Volt Tacklers is that of the group’s official fisherman and a source of seasoned advice. He is rarely seen in the middle of major battles, but when he does step up, he demonstrates considerable skill. He partners with a Quagsire, which knows the move Rain Dance, and also owns a Sharpedo, which he has used in combination with his Mighty G form to aid Palafin. His Pokémon team has a strong Water‑type focus, reflecting his background as a fisherman.

Key relationships include his past mentorship of Friede, whom he taught about the sea and with whom he shares a bond of trust. Ludlow’s connection to the other founding members of the Rising Volt Tacklers is respectfully understated, but he is a reliable presence on the ship. He also has a notable rapport with his Quagsire and Sharpedo, and his heroic link to Palafin remains part of his history.

Over the course of the series, Ludlow’s character develops through glimpses of his hidden past. His return to his hometown of Olivine City reveals how much the city has changed, and he accompanies Liko, Roy, and Dot as they investigate local leads. His past as Mighty G is gradually uncovered, showing that he is more than just a quiet fisherman—he once acted as a protector of the seas. Though he no longer maintains that role full‑time, he remains willing to transform when truly needed, demonstrating that his heroic spirit has not faded.

Ludlow’s notable abilities include his expertise in fishing and his deep knowledge of the ocean and its Pokémon. He is skilled at reading situations and providing well‑timed advice. His most spectacular ability is the Mighty G transformation, a superpowered form that enhances his physical capabilities and allows him to command his Sharpedo and other Water‑type Pokémon with greater authority. While the transformation is limited in duration, it is a testament to his past heroism and his continued commitment to protecting those around him.
