TV-Series
Description
Directeur Clavel serves as the headmaster of Naranja Academy, the prestigious school in the Paldea region where much of the educational activity in Pokémon Horizons: The Series takes place. He is an older man with a kindly and distinguished appearance, characterized by his neatly combed white hair, grey eyes, and formal attire befitting his position of authority. His calm and professional demeanor makes him a respected figure among both the faculty and the student body.

As the director of the academy, Clavel is deeply invested in the education and growth of his students. His primary motivation is to foster a nurturing yet challenging environment where young trainers can develop their skills, particularly through the Terastal phenomenon and the academy's associated training programs. He holds a strong sense of responsibility for the school and the well-being of everyone within it, demonstrating a paternalistic care that goes beyond mere administration. This is evident in his personal attentiveness; on several occasions, he is seen directly observing student activities, from formal tournaments to more informal field research. While he can be serious when the situation calls for it, such as when unregistered individuals appear on school grounds, he is generally supportive and encouraging toward the protagonists, Liko, Roy, and Dot.

In the narrative of the series, Clavel serves as a key authority figure and a primary source of guidance and information for the main characters. He is first seen alongside Geeta, the Top Champion of the Paldea region, officially welcoming Liko, Roy, and Dot to Naranja Academy and providing them with their Tera Orbs, which are essential for Terastallization. His role is consistently one of an organizer and overseer. He is responsible for initiating major school events, such as the Elite Four Tag Battle, a friendly competition where students team up with Gym Leaders against the Elite Four, and the Course Students Battle Tournament. Furthermore, when the protagonists seek knowledge about the mysterious Pokémon Terapagos, it is Clavel and Geeta who advise them to consult the academy's history teacher, Raifort, for information about Area Zero. Beyond the academy walls, he has been shown to take an interest in the students' progress, such as when he traveled to Levincia to watch Dot's official Terastal battle against the Gym Leader Iono.

Clavel maintains a professional and collaborative relationship with Geeta, often working alongside her on matters concerning both the school and larger regional events. He interacts directly with the student body, holding a position of authority over Nemona, a fellow student at the academy, and serving as a mentor figure to Liko and her friends. His encounters with the antagonist group, the Explorers, have been notably characterized by an oblivious goodwill. When he encounters two undercover members, who go by the nicknames Sandwich and Onigiri, he mistakes their suspicious behavior for academic interest, even offering to accompany them to a local Gym, entirely unaware of their true, more nefarious intentions.

Development-wise, Clavell's role expands from a purely introductory figure to a more active participant in the central mystery. He becomes a trusted confidant for the Rising Volt Tacklers, the group that Liko and Roy travel with. In a private meeting with Friede, Liko, Roy, and Dot, Clavell and Geeta are formally introduced to Terapagos and contribute their own knowledge to help unravel the secrets surrounding the legendary Pokémon and the ancient adventurer Lucius. This transition demonstrates his progression from a school administrator to a key ally in the broader adventure of the series.

Regarding his notable abilities, Clavell possesses extensive knowledge about the Terastal phenomenon and the history of the Paldea region, particularly concerning the mysterious Area Zero. While the focus of his character is on his administrative and educational expertise, he is also implied to be a competent Pokémon trainer himself. One episode synopsis mentions him being present during a significant battle between a Lucario and a Pawmot, suggesting his interest and potential involvement in high-level training and battles. His primary strength, however, lies in his leadership, his dedication to his students, and his ability to coordinate large-scale events and investigations from his position as director of Naranja Academy.
