Description
Dot is a character from the animated series Pokémon Horizons: The Series. She is a young technological prodigy and a member of the Rising Volt Tacklers, a group of adventurers who travel the world aboard their airship, the Brave Olivine. Within the group, she serves as a system engineer and computer programmer, managing the ship's technology and developing applications for the crew. She is also the niece of the group's chef, Murdock, with her mother, Blanca, being his sister.

Living a largely reclusive life aboard the airship, Dot prefers to stay within the confines of her own room. This self-imposed isolation is a core aspect of her personality; she is introverted, reserved, and often appears standoffish or annoyed when her solitude is interrupted. She communicates with the rest of the crew primarily through text messages or by sending drawings delivered by her partner Pokémon, Quaxly. She almost never eats with the others, subsisting mostly on nutritional supplements, which leads her uncle to secretly prepare pastries in the hope of luring her out.

Her true passion, however, lies in her secret online persona: Nidotruc. Under this alias, Dot wears a costume resembling a Nidorina and becomes a world-famous streamer who creates videos to help and guide young Pokémon Trainers. In stark contrast to her real-world demeanor, Nidotruc is energetic, dynamic, and performs with grand, exaggerated gestures. Despite the heavy disguise, her videos are lively and popular, covering topics such as the basics of being a Trainer, type matchups, Pokémon Centers, and the importance of feelings during a capture. Her identity as Nidotruc is a closely guarded secret, though her Rising Volt Tackler teammates are aware of it.

Dot's motivation to become a streamer and content creator stems from being a longtime fan of the famous streamer Iono. Inspired by Iono's content, Dot created her Nidotruc persona as a way to follow in her footsteps. Before joining the Rising Volt Tacklers, she felt she had hit a creative wall with her content. It was then that Friede, the leader of the Volt Tacklers, came to her home seeking her help with a technical issue. Though initially fearful and declining, Dot reconsidered after hearing Iono advise during a live stream that the way to overcome a creative block was to move and open herself up to the world. This advice led Dot to accept Friede's offer to join his crew, but she agreed to it on a trial basis, convincing her mother to let her leave home. As a result, she overcame her creative stagnation, and her Nidotruc channel grew even more popular, eventually making her close friends with her former idol, Iono.

Within the story, Dot is initially a mysterious presence, known only through her Nidotruc videos before being revealed as a member of the Rising Volt Tacklers. Her role gradually expands as she builds relationships with the newer members, Liko and Roy. At first, Dot ignores their attempts to befriend her, but she slowly begins to open up. She shows she cares about Liko by creating a drawing of her happy on the airship, and later leaves her room to join the search when Liko goes missing, even collaborating with Iono on a live stream to find her. Her key relationships include her fondness for her uncle Murdock, whom she eventually seems to appreciate, and her partnership with Quaxly. Although Quaxly was not originally her official Pokémon, it lived on the ship and frequently appeared in her videos; Dot eventually captured it as her first official partner. This bond, along with her friendship with Liko and Roy, leads her to participate directly in her first real Pokémon battle, an experience she admits to having enjoyed despite her initial lack of desire to become a Trainer. Her development arc centers on her gradual emergence from her shell, learning to interact with the physical world and her friends on a more personal level rather than solely through a screen.

Notable abilities include her genius-level skill with computers and information analysis, which is an invaluable asset to the Rising Volt Tacklers. As Nidotruc, she possesses a vast theoretical knowledge of Pokémon and is able to convey it in an engaging and accessible manner. Even as a trainer, she demonstrates a tactical and strategic mind rather than relying on raw power, using quick thinking and the environment to her advantage in battles. Her Quaxly, who is a natural performer and dancer, complements her strategic style well.
