Description
The character known as Great Britain, designated Cyborg 007, is a former stage actor from the United Kingdom whose life fell into decline before he was forcibly transformed by the Black Ghost organization. His real name is never revealed. Once a famous and talented performer, his career was destroyed by personal failings, leading to financial ruin and a downward spiral into alcoholism. It was in this vulnerable state, while drowning his sorrows, that Black Ghost agents easily lured him with an alcoholic beverage and captured him for their cyborg program.
On the surface, Great Britain serves as the comedic heart of the 00 Cyborg team. He is jolly, amiable, and quick with a joke to lighten tense or depressing situations. This lighthearted and sometimes flaky demeanor, however, masks a deep well of personal regret and sorrow. He is profoundly haunted by the guilt of abandoning his former girlfriend, Sophie, after he achieved fame, a mistake that stuck with him for a very long time. His struggle with alcoholism is a recurring vulnerability, a habit he has relapsed into on occasion even after becoming a cyborg.
The quest for redemption is a central motivation for Great Britain. Years after his escape from Black Ghost, he returned to the United Kingdom and discovered that Sophie had a daughter named Rosa. Believing she might be his child, he sought to make amends, but was initially rejected and scorned for his past actions. He eventually found a path to atonement by stepping into a lead role for Rosa's theatrical play, Mists of London, a production he and Sophie had originally planned to perform together, thus earning her friendship and achieving a measure of closure.
In his role within the team, Great Britain is primarily a specialist in espionage and infiltration. He is fiercely loyal to his comrades and willing to protect them when needed, despite often acting as a source of comic relief. He maintains a notable relationship with Chang Changku, Cyborg 006, with whom he shares a love-hate dynamic; the two constantly bicker, but Great Britain holds a deep and genuine respect and trust for him. He also exhibits a chivalrous and affectionate side, particularly towards women, and once fell in love with Cyborg 0012, risking his life to save her even though she was aligned with Black Ghost. By the time of the events in Legend of the Super Galaxy, he had revived his acting career as a comedian before being called to rejoin the team to face a cosmic threat.
Great Britain possesses the formidable ability to reshape his cellular structure at will, a power activated by pressing a mechanism in his navel. This allows him to take on the form of any object, animal, or person he wishes. He can perfectly mimic another person's appearance, voice, and mannerisms, a skill that combined with his acting background makes him an ideal infiltrator. His shapeshifting also allows him to stretch his limbs, flatten himself, blend into environments, change his material composition to mimic stone or metal, and even grow to gigantic proportions. In certain later storylines, his abilities were upgraded to include astral projection, enabling him to possess the bodies of other beings.
