Description
Hōchō Masamune manifests as a maiden, one of the Mitsurugi spirits embodying historical Japanese swords. She serves as the second eldest among the Houchou sisters. Her personality radiates cheerfulness and naivety, coupled with a highly sociable nature that generally endears her to others. However, her impulsive actions, undertaken without prior consideration, frequently trigger complications. This impulsivity can escalate into anxiety during unstable situations, potentially leading to difficult circumstances. Beneath her carefree exterior lies a hidden sensitivity and a capacity for diligent effort she rarely shows. She deeply admires Goou Yoshimitsu's calm and thoughtful nature, aspiring to cultivate similar maturity.

As a Gale-type Mitsurugi wielding the Thunder element and embodying Integrity, her combat capabilities include base level 1 stats: Attack 38, Health 24, Defense 41, Luck 50, Move Speed 91. These grow to Attack 272, Health 192, Defense 68, Luck 50, Move Speed 91 at level 80. Her signature move, "攻昂ノ掛声," grants allied Mitsurugi a slight attack boost. Her ougi, "靂華落失," scatters lightning around nearby enemies. Her leadership skill, "Protection Mastery," meagerly increases all allied Mitsurugi defense.

Her Extreme Blooming Ability progression involves multiple enhancement panels. Blooming Panel 1 requires Snow Magatama and Copper Mirrors, boosting leader skill effectiveness, enhancing ougi and signature move potency, increasing attack, improving sword skill, augmenting luck, and unlocking a switch attack that blows away enemies. Blooming Panel 2 demands Moon Magatama and Divine Mirrors, further amplifying leader skill effects, ougi and signature move strength, attack power, sword skill, health, signature move nodes, and reducing signature move cooldown post-switch. Blooming Panel 3 needs Petal Magatama and 4 Deity Mirrors, granting additional leader skill, ougi, and signature move enhancements, significant stat increases in attack, sword skill, health, and defense, plus further signature move node uncaps and cooldown reduction. The final Blooming Panel Extreme requires tears across five stages, upgrading attack equipment, defense and health equipment, throwing mechanics, normal attack range, ougi effects, signature move effectiveness, duration, cooldown, and damage cap.

Outside combat, she enjoys shopping but dislikes strategy. Preferred gifts include Entertainment Novels, Ukiyo-e, Poetry, Foreign Books, Ink Painting, and Workshop expedition items. She refers to herself as "Atashi" and addresses the player as "Aruji." Alternative names are "Hou" and "Hou-neesama," the latter used specifically by Horinuki.
