Description
Shun Gotōda is one of the five high school students recruited by Sakiko Horinomiya to compete in the "Motemen Koushien" tournament, which determines Japan's most handsome team. He joins primarily to repay monetary debts owed to Sakiko, using the prize money as settlement. Among the protagonists—Tokio Furuta, Shigekazu Ashida, Kotaro Tojima, and Aki Sahashi—Shun stands apart by lacking a major personality flaw hindering his social interactions, positioning him as the group's mentor who actively teaches the others lessons in cultivating "coolness" and enhancing their appeal. He maintains a formal, disciplined appearance, consistently wearing his school uniform as required, and is a handsome youth sporting brown hair with dark or green eyes. His relationship with Sakiko, who initially recruited him for financial reasons, evolves during their tournament preparation as he gradually develops romantic feelings for her; he also serves as her butler. The etymology of his name reflects his character: "Shun" (駿) signifies "fast," while "Gotōda" (後藤田) combines "rear/remainder" (後), "wisteria" (藤), and "field/rice paddy" (田).
