OVA
Description
Cyborg 007, whose full name is given as Great Britain and who is also referred to as G.B. or Bretagna, is a supporting character in the OVA crossover Cyborg 009 vs. Devilman. He is designated as the seventh of the 00 Cyborgs, originally created by the terrorist organization Black Ghost. His primary function is espionage and infiltration, a role for which his unique abilities are perfectly suited.

Before being forcibly transformed into a cyborg, Great Britain was a talented stage actor in his home country of England. However, he experienced a fall from grace, lost his job, and descended into a state of depression and alcoholism. During this vulnerable period, he was approached by a Black Ghost agent who used an expensive bottle of Scotch to lure him into a car, where he was knocked unconscious and subsequently converted into the 00 Cyborg model 007.

In the OVA, his outward appearance is distinctive. He is completely bald with slender, dark eyebrows, slightly slanted eyes, a prominent hawk-like nose, and developing facial wrinkles. He wears a striking red double-breasted military uniform with a high collar, gold buttons, a bright yellow scarf, and black boots. This uniform includes a gun holster around his waist that carries his Super Gun. When dressed as a civilian, he is seen in a light pink dress shirt, a red tie, and dark trousers.

Personality-wise, G.B. serves as a source of light-heartedness and comic relief among the more serious members of the 00 Cyborg team. He is portrayed as a jolly, loyal, and good-natured individual who uses humor to add levity to difficult situations. This tendency to make jokes is suggested to stem from his own past sadness and regrets, representing a desire to enjoy his life as a hero and prevent his teammates from falling into a similar state of depression. Despite being a recovering alcoholic, he struggles with his inner demons and is shown to occasionally relapse, such as when he ends up getting completely drunk at a bar in Tokyo while supposed to be on an investigation. His background as an actor also shines through in his personality, as he sometimes waxes philosophical and quotes classic literary works. He also displays a mischievous side, as seen when he uses his shapeshifting to perfectly mimic his teammate Francoise Arnoul, an act for which he is immediately slapped by the real Francoise.

The true extent of his background in this specific incarnation is not fully detailed, but it is assumed to follow the general backstory of previous versions. After being created by Black Ghost, he and his fellow cyborgs, aided by Dr. Gilmore, rebelled and escaped. At the beginning of the OVA, he is present with the team during a battle against the Mythos Cyborgs on Magma Island, watching from the sidelines due to being too heavily injured to assist in the final confrontation. Later, while relaxing at Dr. Gilmore's home, he is part of the team that responds to Cyborg 001 Ivan Whisky's psychic detection of a demonic presence. While the other male cyborgs split up to search the local area, G.B. ends up at a nightclub bar, where he becomes very drunk.

Regarding key relationships, he is a steadfast and loyal member of the 00 Cyborg team, working alongside iconic characters such as Joe Shimamura (009), Ivan Whisky (001), and Francoise Arnoul (003). His interactions are defined by his good-natured ribbing and attempts to lighten the mood, even if his antics sometimes result in comedic comeuppance, like the slap from Francoise. He also shows a susceptibility to illusions, as when the female demon Lilith puts him under a spell using the image of an attractive young woman, from which he has to be snapped out of by his teammate Albert Heinrich (004).

In terms of development, the OVA does not provide a deep character arc for him. Instead, it relies on the audience having a pre-existing familiarity with the established traits of the Cyborg 009 cast. His role is primarily to act as a capable and experienced member of the heroic team, providing both combat support and moments of comic relief during the crossover story.

G.B.'s notable abilities are extensive and make him one of the most versatile members of the team. His primary power is molecular shapeshifting, which he activates by pressing his belly button. This allows him to transform into virtually anything he desires, including other people, animals, and even inanimate objects. He can perfectly mimic a person's voice, appearance, and mannerisms, as demonstrated when he transforms into an exact copy of the cyborg Francoise. Beyond mere disguise, he can alter his physiology for combat purposes. He can stretch his body to great lengths, allowing him to wrap around and crush multiple enemies. He can also make his body extremely elastic and rubbery, enabling him to bounce off attacks and shield his teammates from harm, such as protecting them from lightning-based attacks. He can change his size, becoming as small as a mouse for infiltration or growing to a giant size. Furthermore, he can change the atomic structure of his body to mimic other materials like stone or metal. In addition to his cyborg powers, he carries a Super Gun for ranged combat, though he once attempts to use it to shoot his team out of an ice prison, only for the bullets to ricochet harmlessly.
