OVA
Description
Akira Fudo is one of the protagonists of the crossover film, portrayed as a Japanese teenager of average height with a lean physique, brown hair worn at a medium length, and brown eyes. His typical attire consists of a red shirt covered by a black jacket with grey lining, paired with black pants and brown shoes. His core identity is that of a young man who has merged with a powerful demon named Amon, a transformation that allows him to become the powerful being known as Devilman while miraculously retaining his human soul and conscience.

Before his fusion with Amon, Akira was known to be a kind, timid, and shy individual who was easily bullied. This merging with the demon had a profound effect on his personality, leading him to develop a cooler, drier, and more hardened exterior as a side effect. Despite this significant change in his demeanor, making him more aggressive and confrontational, he still possesses a good heart at his core. He is driven by a strong will and a deep desire to protect those he cares about, a motivation that remains his guiding principle throughout his battles.

In the story of the OVA, Akira acts as a lone warrior against the demonic forces that threaten humanity. He is initially opposed to the 00 Cyborgs, particularly Joe Shimamura, who mistakes him for an enemy after his psychic comrade senses the presence of a "devil." This misunderstanding leads to a brutal fight between Devilman and Cyborg 009, where the sheer force of their attacks results in both combatants losing an arm. However, as the narrative progresses and a greater threat emerges in the form of a fusion between demonic and cybernetic forces, Akira ultimately sets aside his conflict with the cyborgs and teams up with them to defeat this common enemy.

Akira’s most significant relationship is with his girlfriend, Miki. He is intensely protective of her, and her well-being is a primary concern that drives his actions. When she is kidnapped, he goes on a rampage until she is found. He is also a good friend to Ryo Asuka, who often provides him with information on demonic activity. His compassionate nature is showcased in his battle against the demon Jinmen, who had devoured his young friend, Sachiko. Even while transformed into the ferocious Devilman, Akira hesitates to destroy Jinmen for fear of harming Sachiko, demonstrating that his human emotions are never fully subsumed by his demonic power.

While Akira does not undergo a dramatic shift in personality over the course of the crossover, his role serves to reinforce his established character. His interactions with the cyborgs highlight his unwavering resolve and his clear understanding of what he must protect within himself. He serves as a contrast to characters like Cyborg 009, offering a lesson on maintaining one's humanity despite having become something other than human. His development is less about change and more about the steadfast application of his core principle: wielding monstrous power for the protection of others.

Akira possesses the ability to transform into Devilman, a muscular demon with bluish-green skin, large red wings for flight, a prehensile tail, and antennae on his head. In this form, he has immense physical strength and razor-sharp claws. Among his signature offensive techniques is the Devil Cutter, where sharp, bladed spines emerge from his wrists to slice and tear through his opponents. He can also fire powerful bolts of electricity from his antenna and breathe fire. Even when in his human form, Akira retains a degree of superhuman physical strength, as demonstrated when he effortlessly lifts a motorcycle and balances it on a railing to use as a trap.
