Description
The Queen is the ruler of the Garden of Light in the anime Futari wa Pretty Cure Max Heart. She is a benevolent sovereign who governs the realm of light, which is protected by the power of the Prism Stones. In appearance, she is one of the largest beings in the story, a colossal figure normally seated upon a golden throne and holding a heart-shaped ring in her left hand. Her size is so great that the main characters are overwhelmed by her presence upon first seeing her.
Her central role in the story comes from an event that occurred before the series begins. During her battle with the Dark King, she was struck by a ray of dark energy and shattered into three separate elements: her life, which took the form of the human girl Kujou Hikari; her heart, which became the Queen Chairect; and her will, which manifested as the twelve Heartiels. As a result, the Queen exists in a fragmented state throughout most of the narrative, and much of the story revolves around gathering the twelve Heartiels so that she can be restored to her original form.
In terms of personality, the Queen is wise, gracious, and caring toward those who fight on behalf of light. She is impressed by the courage and hope shown by the Pretty Cure and aids them whenever she can. Her motivation is the protection of the Garden of Light and the defense of the world against the forces of darkness. Even after being broken apart, her purpose continues through her divided elements, as her will, her heart, and her life each work toward her eventual rebirth.
Her most significant relationship is with Kujou Hikari, who is literally her own life given separate existence. Hikari begins the story as an ordinary, gentle girl with no memory of having been part of the Queen, but she remains fundamentally connected to her. The Queen Chairect serves as the Queen's heart and becomes an important device used by the heroines, while the twelve Heartiels act as extensions of her will that must be recovered to bring her back. She is also the sovereign of the Garden of Light's inhabitants, including the fairy companions who support the heroines. Over the course of the story, the part of her that lived as a girl comes into her own as an individual, and by the end of the series Hikari and the restored Queen exist as separate beings.
As for her notable abilities, the Queen's power is tied to the Prism Stones and the protection of her realm. Even in her divided state, her components remain active: the Heartiels embody her will, and when gathered and channeled through the Queen Chairect, they serve as a source of power for the heroines' most powerful attacks. Her sheer scale also makes her presence formidable, and her restoration brings back the light and stability of the Garden of Light.
