Description
Mdm Sirene is a female demon from the Demon Tribe who appears as a supporting antagonist in the 1973 crossover film Mazinger Z vs. Devilman. Her background originates from the Devilman universe, where she is a significant threat, but in this film she is one of several demons freed from imprisonment. The character is introduced when a battle between Mazinger Z, Aphrodite A, and Doctor Hell's Mechanical Beasts unexpectedly frees her from underground. She immediately flies away, catching the attention of Akira Fudo, who transforms into Devilman to pursue her. Doctor Hell recognizes her as a member of the Demon Tribe and follows her to the Himalayas, where the rest of the demons are frozen. He frees some of them and forms an alliance. Mdm Sirene becomes part of this alliance, working alongside Doctor Hell, Baron Ashura, and another demon named Bugo. Her motivations are aligned with the Demon Tribe's goal of defeating Devilman, who is a traitor to their kind, and she also cooperates with Doctor Hell's scheme to destroy Mazinger Z. In terms of personality, Mdm Sirene is cunning and ruthless, willing to take hostages to achieve her objectives. During a mission to destroy the Jet Scrander, she and Bugo damage the device before being driven off, and she escapes by kidnapping Shiro and Sayaka. She is eventually thwarted when Devilman rescues the hostages. Later, during the final battle above the clouds, she is among the demons killed when Koji Kabuto pilots Mazinger Z with the Jet Scrander to free Devilman and destroy Doctor Hell's flying fortress. Mdm Sirene's notable abilities include flight, demonic strength, and the capacity to grow to giant size, as demons in this film possess such powers. Her key relationships include her adversarial role against Devilman and Koji Kabuto, her alliance with Doctor Hell and the other demons, and her direct involvement in threatening the human characters. She does not undergo significant development; she remains a straightforward villain whose actions serve to advance the plot and highlight the threat of the Demon Tribe. Her appearance in the film is characterized by dark teal skin, bright yellow eyes, black wings, and an orange feathered dress, distinguishing her from her manga counterpart.
