Description
Yuyuko Tanaka, a first-year in Rinmeikan's Performance Department, chose the school specifically for its classical Japanese language and arts. Her enrollment in Performance stems from a deep passion for rakugo storytelling, ignited by a rakugo storyteller relative. This devotion shapes her daily life, reflected in a music playlist dominated by rakugo performances.

She maintains nocturnal habits, often tired at school from staying up late and sleeping during the day. Yuyuko frequently naps in class or practice, finding the classroom environment conducive to sleep. This sleepy demeanor can act as a deliberate facade to avoid conversations or conceal her diligent efforts. Despite appearances, she exhibits fierce dedication when pursuing interests or supporting those she cares about, working tirelessly in secret on tasks like scriptwriting and practice. Fear of rejection makes her avoid showing effort or vulnerability openly, though she gradually becomes more expressive as trusting relationships form.

Her appearance features shoulder-length peach hair, typically loose over her shoulders with blunt bangs slightly parted on the right. Three red "Z"-shaped hair clips adorn the left side of her bangs. Her revue outfit incorporates traditional elements: a crimson mini-kimono with gold accents, a purple obi, black jika-tabi-style boots with red ribbons, and a butterfly-shaped hairpin. She wields kunai named "Rinmeitei Yūmin," reflecting her affinity for historical tools.

Yuyuko actively promotes rakugo among peers, employing persuasion or light trickery to share her passion. She invites others to live performances, believing rakugo is best experienced firsthand, and crafts plans to "convert" friends into enthusiasts. While generally perceptive of others' unspoken emotions, frustration can trigger harsh responses.

Relationships are central to her development at Rinmeikan:
* Rui Akikaze, her closest friend and classmate, is designated her "producer." Yuyuko supports Rui's growth, refining her acting and choreography while admiring her physical grace and potential. Their dynamic involves mutual teasing and deep trust, with Yuyuko sharing personal insecurities about acceptance over time.
* Yuyuko persistently requests Tamao Tomoe for shamisen accompaniment during rakugo. Though Tamao initially declines due to rehearsal priorities, Yuyuko remains determined to collaborate, viewing theater and rakugo as intertwined. She credits Tamao's kindness as pivotal to her continued involvement in the Performance Department.
* Ichie Otonashi shares casual outings and philosophical discussions with Yuyuko. Yuyuko respects Ichie's emphasis on "ichigo ichie" (treasuring encounters) but critiques her use of folding fans in revues, vowing to find more suitable alternatives.
* Fumi Yumeoji begins with mutual friction, evolving into a shared appreciation for traditional theater, culminating in joint attendance at performances.

Yuyuko's character development centers on growing openness and confidence within her friendships. Initially guarded, she gradually reveals hidden efforts and vulnerabilities, like her fear of exclusion, as she feels accepted. Her dedication to preserving Rinmeikan's traditions intensifies during efforts to save the Performance Department, channeling creativity into scripts like the "Rinmeiki" while maintaining her blend of concealed diligence and rakugo advocacy.
