Movie
Description
Lal'C Melk Mark is a central character in Top o Nerae 2: Diebuster, appearing also in the compilation film Gunbuster vs Diebuster Aim for the Top! The GATTAI!! Movie. She is a seventeen-year-old female pilot with short white hair, yellow eyes, and dark skin. She operates Buster Machine number 19, known as Dix-Neuf, the oldest active buster machine in service. Among the Topless, humanity's elite psychic pilot corps, she holds the highest recorded kill score against space monsters, placing her in the so-called Idol group alongside fellow pilots Nicola and Tycho, who also have exceptionally high kill rates.

Outwardly, Lal'C is cool, self-confident, and carries herself with a composed demeanor that earns her the nickname princess from her teammates. This composed exterior initially makes her the object of admiration for the protagonist Nono, who looks up to her and addresses her as Onee-sama. At first, Lal'C is annoyed by Nono's persistent hero-worship, but she gradually becomes accustomed to the girl's company. Over time, she opens up to Nono and becomes someone with whom she can discuss things she would not normally share with others. Lal'C senses potential in Nono and admires her never-give-up attitude, although she remains doubtful that sheer guts and perseverance are enough to make Nono's dreams come true.

In the story, Lal'C plays a key role in inducting Nono into the Fraternity as an auxiliary member, even though Nono does not display any of the typical traits of a Topless. This act shows her willingness to bend the rules for someone she sees promise in. Her piloting abilities are formidable, as the top scorer among the Topless, and her control over Dix-Neuf makes her a crucial frontline defender against space monsters. Lal'C's development is marked by a gradual shift from aloofness to genuine care for those around her, particularly Nono, reflecting a subtle but meaningful emotional arc. She is defined by her exceptional combat record, her cool but not unfeeling personality, and her evolving relationship with the girl who refuses to stop chasing her dreams.
