Description
Lilysa Amano is a high school student and the female protagonist of the story. She is a passionate and devoted cosplayer who exclusively portrays her favorite fictional character, Liliel, from the manga and anime series Ashford Chronicle. She has short pastel pink hair and pastel blue eyes, and is often seen wearing red-framed glasses. A first-year student, she joins her school’s manga club after learning that the club’s president, Masamune Okumura, shares her deep love for Liliel. She recruits Okumura to serve as her official photographer, a role he accepts reluctantly at first.

Lilysa’s motivation stems from her intense adoration of Liliel. She began cosplaying after attending a cosplay event, and since then she has dedicated herself to expressing her love for the character through meticulously crafted costumes and careful role-play. She is known among her classmates and the wider cosplay community for her impressive costume-making skills and her unwavering commitment to accuracy. Her devotion is so single-minded that she initially shows little interest in real-world romance, a trait that creates both comedy and tension in her interactions with others.

Within the story, Lilysa serves as the catalyst that shakes up the manga club and challenges Okumura’s self-professed preference for two-dimensional characters. Her presence forces him to confront his growing feelings for a real person, blurring the boundary between his love for a fictional heroine and his attraction to someone who brings that heroine to life. She is also central to the club’s activities, as her cosplay projects drive many of the group’s adventures and events.

Key relationships include her dynamic with Okumura, which evolves from a simple photographer-subject arrangement into a complicated emotional bond tinged with mutual fandom and budding romantic tension. She also interacts with Mikari Tachibana, Okumura’s childhood friend, who harbors unrequited feelings for him and views Lilysa as a rival. Over time, other girls join the manga club, each forming their own unique connection with Lilysa, and she becomes a unifying figure who brings out their shared passion for cosplay and creativity.

As the narrative progresses, Lilysa undergoes notable development. She gains more confidence in her abilities and becomes increasingly recognized as a cosplayer, though her core dedication to Liliel remains constant. More significantly, she begins to experience genuine romantic emotions, which marks a personal shift from her previously exclusive focus on a two-dimensional idol. Her growth mirrors the story’s central theme of finding real connection through a shared love of fiction.

Lilysa’s notable abilities lie primarily in cosplay: she is highly skilled at designing and sewing costumes, and she excels at embodying Liliel’s mannerisms and expressions. Her enthusiasm and attention to detail earn her admiration from both casual fans and experienced cosplayers. Additionally, her willingness to collaborate with others, especially as the subject of photography, helps elevate the quality of the club’s creative output.
