Description
Curte, known as Curte the Clear Sky, is a young woman who lost both her home and her eyesight to the rampage of the True Demon King. Following this tragedy, she was taken in by Taren the Guarded, a former general of Aureatia, and came to live in a tower within the central fortress of the New Principality of Lithia. Her blindness is a defining characteristic, but she navigates her world with a gentle and positive disposition, described by her voice actor as having a notable purity that is striking not for being dramatic but for its genuine innocence.
Curte possesses a beautiful singing voice, which proves to be more than a simple talent. One of her most crucial relationships is with Regnejee the Wings of Sunset, the commander of Lithia's Wyvern Army and an old friend. Her singing has the unique power to soothe Regnejee, bringing him a sense of peace and calm that is otherwise foreign to him as a powerful but volatile wyvern. Despite her deep care for him, their relationship is marked by a gentle distance, as Curte expresses a desire to touch him, a request Regnejee politely declines by keeping his guard up. She keeps a diary where she records her memories, particularly those concerning Regnejee, and transcribes her thoughts using braille, a writing system for the blind.
Within the story of Ishura, Curte serves a tragic and poignant role. While appearing as a gentle ward of Taren, it is suggested that she may act as a mole within Lithia, writing coded transcriptions because of her disability. Her connection to Regnejee is also a strategic asset for Taren, who uses her to help control the wyvern army. When Lithia falls in battle, Regnejee rushes to the tower to urge Curte to flee, telling her that she is his only family. In their final moments, as Harghent arrives to eliminate Regnejee, Curte steps forward to protect him, declaring him to be irreplaceable. She is caught in the crossfire, receiving a fatal wound alongside him. Her last words, delivered to Taren, are a simple and heartbreaking plea to save her mother.
