Description
Fangora is a female cat character from the animated series Hello Kitty's Furry Tale Theater. She is a Siamese cat with a distinctive and memorable appearance, characterized by her purple fur and darker purple paws. Her design is notably round and heavy-set. She is almost always seen wearing tinted, slightly green sunglasses, along with a green pearl necklace and matching green pearl bracelets. A single fang peeking out from her lower right lip gives her a slightly mischievous or villainous look that suits her typical role in the theater's productions.

In the context of the show, where the main characters perform in a repertory theater putting on parodies of classic tales, Fangora is most often cast as an antagonist. Her personality reflects the stage mother archetype; she is highly doting on her daughter, Catnip, and is deeply invested in Catnip being the center of attention in their performances. Fangora's primary motivation stems from this maternal devotion, driving her to scheme and play the villainess to elevate her daughter's role, whether as a spoiled stepsister, a bratty princess, or a conniving sultaness.

Her role in the story is almost exclusively that of a supporting antagonist. Within the fictional plays put on by the theater troupe, Fangora frequently portrays the wicked stepmother, witch, or other formidable foe. Notable examples include the Stepmother in the Cinderella parody Cinderkitty, the Witch Fangora who curses Tuxedo Sam in Kitty and the Beast, and Bratnip's witchy mother who places a sleeping curse on Princess Kitty in Sleeping Kitty. She also appears as Mayor Fangora in Paws: The Great White Dog Shark, the Wizardess Fangora in Rumpeldogskin, and a Guard in Robin Penguin. In rarer instances, she takes on non-antagonist roles, such as Queen Fangora of Hearts in Hello Mother Goose and Mama Quackling in The Ugly Quackling.

Fangora's most significant relationship is with her daughter, Catnip. The two are almost always paired together, with Catnip playing the bratty and often dim-witted counterpart to her mother's cunning and manipulative nature. While Catnip tends to be loudly and overtly unpleasant, Fangora is more calculating, using her authority as an elder or her magical abilities to create obstacles for the heroines, such as Hello Kitty and My Melody. Over the course of the series, Fangora shows no significant development or change in character; she remains a consistent source of comic villainy, serving the show's need for a recurring and reliable troublemaker alongside her daughter.

As a character who is performing within a play-within-a-show, Fangora frequently possesses the magical abilities her current role requires. In the Sleeping Kitty episode, she is a witch who can cast potent curses. In Kitty and the Beast, she again takes on the role of a witch capable of transforming a handsome prince into a beast. While she sometimes uses more mundane means to cause trouble, her ability to wield magic as a witch or wizardess is her most notable and recurring special skill, often serving as the primary catalyst for the episode's conflict.
