Description
Kaeru Yamatani is a member of the fourth generation of VTubers from the agency LiveOn. An adult woman, she has blue eyes and long blue hair. Her most defining characteristic is her declaration that she is truly a baby at heart, a persona she fully embraces in her streams. In the opening sequences of the anime, she is depicted with a pacifier, often seen crawling on the floor or lying down, which visually reinforces her infantile self-image.

Before becoming a VTuber, Kaeru was a creator of children's literature, having written picture books with the goal of bringing happiness to small children. Her dream was to succeed as a self-driven creator, but she was unable to secure a serialization deal. Following these setbacks, she attempted to find traditional employment. However as a woman approaching her thirties with no special qualifications or relevant experience, she faced a relentless series of job rejections. This experience left deep psychological scars, causing her to develop an extreme phobia of anything related to formal employment. The mere sight of a resume or entering an office building can trigger severe panic attacks, and on one occasion, she even fainted upon visiting the LiveOn headquarters.

Driven by her childhood desire to be coddled and her deep-seated aversion to adult responsibilities, Kaeru decided to become a VTuber. Her singular, candid motivation is to be treated as a baby, to receive endless affection, and to be doted on by everyone around her. She consistently refers to herself by her own name and uses polite language, even during her most infantile antics. Her solo streams are a genuine and unfiltered expression of her persona, famously including a debut broadcast where she tested various pacifiers on stream, producing sounds so realistic that she was almost banned. Her unashamed commitment to this role is a major part of her appeal.

Despite her bold persona, Kaeru is initially hesitant to collaborate with other VTubers, worrying that she might be a burden to them. Her role in the story deepens when Kokorone Awayuki, another member of LiveOn, actively reaches out to her. Awayuki becomes her first collaboration partner, proving to her that she can work with others. Kaeru develops a powerful and immediate attachment to Awayuki, whom she affectionately calls her first mom. This relationship is the catalyst for Kaeru to open up and become more socially active within the group.

Her key relationships are defined by this search for maternal care. She maintains a personal mom ranking for those who show her kindness. During a visit to the LiveOn headquarters, after fainting from stress, she is cared for by the main protagonist, whom she subsequently dubs the ultimate mom. Kaeru exhibits notable abilities beyond her streaming persona. She has a genuine talent for writing children's stories, which informs the innocent and humorous tone of some of her content. Her immersive role-playing is also a skill in its own right, demonstrating a complete dedication to her infantile character that can be both charming and unexpectedly shocking. In her private life, she occasionally ventures out alone to sing karaoke, but she only ever performs children's songs, remaining faithful to her inner baby at all times.
