Description
Kyuruga is a male Munchkin cat characterized by a mackerel tabby coat and legs that are noticeably long for his breed. His most recognizable physical trait is the pattern on his forehead, which closely resembles a QR code; this marking gives him his name, derived from the Japanese word for QR code. He also has a distinct mouth area that has been described as resembling a small bottom. Kyuruga originally belonged to Fuuta's younger sister, Pii-chan, and moves into Fuuta's home when Pii-chan comes to live with him.

Kyuruga exhibits a typical feline personality: curious, independent, and occasionally stubborn. He is affectionate in his own way, frequently licking Fuuta's face while the latter is trying to sleep, plopping down on whatever Fuuta happens to be reading, and using Fuuta's freshly laid-out clothes as a blanket. He is known for his sudden mood changes, the surprising shapes he twists his body into, and his strong attachment to comfort and food. Among all foods, chicken is his absolute favorite, and this preference often drives his behavior.

Kyuruga serves as the central cat of the series. The story follows Fuuta, who has never owned a cat before, as he learns to navigate the unexpected habits and charming surprises that Kyuruga brings into his life each evening. The cat is the primary source of comedy and warmth, with each episode or chapter highlighting a different small moment of cohabitation between a human and a feline.

The most important relationship in Kyuruga's life is with Fuuta, who is gradually becoming more attuned to cat behavior under Kyuruga's influence. Kyuruga also shares a close bond with Pii-chan, his original owner, though she handles many of the logistical aspects of his care while Fuuta experiences the day-to-day antics. The dynamic between these three characters underscores the everyday adjustments and mutual understanding that come with living with a pet.

Kyuruga does not undergo significant personal development over the course of the narrative; instead, the series focuses on the repeated, low-key interactions that define life with a cat. His unchanging nature is part of the appeal, as Fuuta's growing familiarity with his quirks provides the story's gentle progression.

Among Kyuruga's notable abilities are his remarkable flexibility, which allows him to contort into a wide variety of positions, and his distinctive vocal sounds. His forehead pattern has the unusual property of sometimes being captured by cameras in a way that mimics a readable QR code, briefly tricking devices into attempting to open a link. Additionally, like many cats, he demonstrates an uncanny talent for appearing exactly where he is least expected, often surprising Fuuta with his sudden presence.
