Description
Belius, whose full name is Belius Innu Cerberus, is a supporting character in the anime The Vexations of a Shut-In Vampire Princess. He is a beastman with the imposing head of a large dog, a feature that makes him instantly recognizable and has earned him the fearsome epithet of the dog-headed killer among both allies and enemies. Despite his intimidating appearance, he is not a vampire, a fact that often causes confusion among foreigners due to his registration in the Mulnite Empire's magic core, which is typically reserved for vampires.
Within the military structure of the Mulnite Empire, Belius holds the rank of lieutenant and serves as the leader of the Third Unit, a squad known as the Destruction Squad, under the command of Terakomari Gandesblood in the infamous Seventh Battalion. His path to this unit was not one of honor but of punishment; he was transferred to the Seventh Battalion after being convicted of committing murder while serving in the Sixth Battalion. This past transgression hangs over his record, and his current position represents a demotion from his previous standing.
In terms of personality, Belius stands out sharply from the eccentric and chaotic vampires who make up most of the Seventh Battalion. He is characterized by a serious, down-to-earth, and responsible nature. Often acting as the voice of reason, he frequently finds himself restraining his more impulsive and outrageous squad members, trying to maintain order in the midst of their chaos. He is known to be chivalrous and takes his duties seriously, displaying a clear sense of responsibility as a squad leader.
However, his personality has a notable contradiction. While he is generally the sensible one, Belius harbors a deep-seated yearning for endless war, a desire he has openly confessed. This makes him surprisingly receptive to the extreme and warlike declarations of his commander, Terakomari, especially when she enters her intimidating General mode. Despite her orders often being absurd or born of panic, Belius accepts them faithfully and without question, showing a surprising willingness to follow her most violent commands at face value.
Belius maintains a professional and loyal relationship with Terakomari Gandesblood, respecting her authority as his commander. He often acts as a mediator within the team, trying to bridge the gap between his superior's bizarre proclamations and the chaotic energy of his fellow squad members. His primary role in the story is as a dependable and powerful combatant for the Seventh Battalion, providing a grounded and stabilizing presence amid the antics of his vampire comrades. Throughout the series, Belius remains a loyal, if occasionally bewildered, supporter of Terakomari, contributing his exceptional combat prowess to her unit while grappling with the absurdity of his situation.
