Description
Kenanji Avery is a career soldier belonging to the special forces unit Dominicus, which operates under the Mobile Suit Development Council. He first appears during the Vanadis Incident, an attack on the research facility at Front Fólkvangr. At this time, he is a young and lean ace pilot, selected to operate the advanced Beguir-Beu mobile suit. During the assault, he demonstrates exceptional skill and a ruthless, arrogant demeanor, using the unit's Antidote system to disable and destroy two Gundam Lfrith mass-production prototypes. He nearly succeeds in destroying the primary Gundam Lfrith unit before being intercepted by another pilot, an event that allows the target to escape.
Approximately twenty-one years later, by the time of the main story, Kenanji has been promoted to the rank of commander, leading his fleet from the bridge of the amphibious assault ship Ulysses. His appearance has changed significantly; he has gained a considerable amount of weight and sports a beard and thinning hair, a transformation that his subordinates, unaware of his past, sometimes comment on. Despite this physical change, his personality has also mellowed. He displays a good-natured and self-deprecating sense of humor, particularly regarding his weight and its incompatibility with Earth's gravity, and he handles the casual remarks of his crew with patient, light-hearted reprimands rather than strict discipline.
While he has retired from active piloting duties for the most part, Kenanji has not lost his sharp military instincts or his formidable piloting abilities.
